Our team mandate is simple: we aim to bridge the gap between real-world system data and provide consumable business intelligence to help steer the future of how we monitor and manage the grid. Our fast-growing team is responsible for the capture, utilization, and application of time-series sensor data in the development of high-impact data business capabilities. Candidates must bring an ability to pinpoint gaps in knowledge and organizational capability who can identify and create solutions for managing our portfolio of projects and processes to ensure we serve the business with dynamic and effective new business capabilities built by our diverse team of engineers and supporting contractors. A successful candidate will focus on:  

 

  • Working closely with the organization and team to ensure sustainable scaling and management of our PI historian and related technologies. 
  • Managing upstream relationships to ensure adherent data resources that ensure a healthy and sustainable historian resource is maintained by the business. 
  • Engagement with IT to regulate Business versus IT work related to our SCADA historian and meet the demand of our business stakeholders in a manner that instills trust in our engineering data resources. 
  • Forging new business relationships that help identify capability gaps across the Transmission organization that could be served by improved technology/process solutions developed by our team. 
  • Ensuring efficient day-to-day resource management by working closely with our project managers and technical resources to ensure adherence to our strategic objectives. 
  • Supporting the development of new business processes that ensure our technology and team growth is sustainably maintained and grown commensurate with the business need and demand of our data resources. 
  • Provisioning of resources for capital project execution through collaboration with Electric Transmission and IT leadership. 
  • Implement strategies for team growth, talent development/management, recruitment, and efficient onboarding and training. 

 

  • Must be able to meet NERC qualifications.  
  • Relocation assistance may be offered to the successful candidate.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following:

 

A track record in managing technology teams (formally or informally) is mandatory. We deal with greenfield opportunities and often nebulous requirements as we innovate new capabilities. The electric utility industry is amid one of its most significant transformations – we’re playing a key role in leading this change. For this reason, we require that candidates bring: 

 

  • 7+ years minimum professional experience with demonstrable skills in leadership (formal or informal).  
  • Experience working in an engineering and technology focused organization. Strong weight will be given to candidates with experience in innovative organizations that deliver data science, custom software development, cloud infrastructure, and other data related technologies as a byproduct. 
  • Past performance working in start-up-like environments while simultaneously understanding how to navigate the complexities and challenges of a large organization.  
  • Advanced business and financial acumen, strong planning, organizing, and project management skills, as well as superior relationships management and communication skills (including technical writing) when working with engineers, customers, and executives alike. 
  • Proven decision making and complex problem-solving skills and have demonstrated abilities to process information quickly and effectively manage multiple tasks. 
  • An ability to work autonomously and resourcefully when given abstract tasks and responsibilities, but they should also be comfortable working amongst a team and under external constraints where applicable. The candidate should excel at self-education and continuous learning. 
  • The candidate will have demonstrated leadership, team building, conflict resolution, and coaching skills even when in an informal leadership role. The candidate should have the ability to effectively delegate tasks and responsibilities to the team, utilizing trust in subject matter experts to influence work balancing, prioritization, and direction. 
  • The candidate should demonstrate excellent professional ethics.
