Job Summary

Dominion Energy is seeking a dynamic Supervisor of Environmental Regulations to join its Corporate Air Programs team, working under direction of the Manager, Environmental.   Environmental experience working with air permitting and compliance is a must.  We are seeking a candidate also with strong, proven leadership experience.   This position can be filled in Glen Allen, VA or Cayce, SC.



  • Supervisor responsible as individual contributor, as well as supervising team responsible for air compliance and permitting support for Dominion Energy facilities.  
  • Responsible for coordinating work assignments, supervising internal staff and contracted resources to facilitate air environmental compliance and permitting support.
  • Provides leadership to develop staff in improving individual knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Responsible for coordinating and negotiating with local, state, and national regulatory agencies on air compliance and permitting matters.
  • Responsible for preparation and oversight of reports to internal departments and external agencies.
  • Provide support to Operations and to Environmental Compliance Coordinators for environmental inspections and environmental audits.
  • Coordinate w/ all affected parties, including Operations and Environmental Department staff on the resolution of air compliance issues.
  • Ensure proper interpretation of environmental permits and regulations to make sure compliance dates and requirements are met.
  • Assist in the evaluation and implementation of new environmental rules.
  • Communicate within Dominion Energy Environment and Sustainability to ensure consistent interpretations/implementations of environmental air regulations.
  • Develops and conducts environmental training related to air permits, compliance, and regulations.
  • Perform oversight and technical direction of contractors and consultants, including preparation of scopes of work, purchase requisitions, and invoice approval for contractors and consultants.
  • Responsible for implementing Enhanced Environmental Management System for Dominion Energy Environment and Sustainability department and provide support for Operations.
  • Adhere to Dominion Energy safety rules and safety performance expectations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
  • 7+ years’ experience in air compliance or multi-media environmental compliance experience including air and Title V facilities with at least 3 years of leadership experience is required.
  • Extremely knowledgeable or expert level understanding of Clean Air Act regulations as they relate to Dominion Energy operations.
  • Must demonstrate strong supervisor/leadership skills.
  • Proven ability to independently develop, implement, and administer complex plans and processes for company Operations and Engineering.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to translate environmental regulations and permit/ plan requirements into understandable compliance guidance for Operations, Engineering, and Dominion Energy Environment and Sustainability.      
  • Experience dealing with regulatory agencies.                
  • Excellent public speaking and communication skills.
  • Excellent writing skills required.
  • Strong team building and facilitation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively interface with stakeholders both internal and external to the company throughout the regulatory processes.
  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Respectful assertiveness to proactively ensure environmental compliance requirements are met by others while considering the spirit and letter of the law.
  • Embraces collaborative problem solving.
  • Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Adaptive to adjusting own actions in relation to others' actions.
  • Ability to remain professional while delivering high quality reliable environmental services to internal and external customers.
  • Effective computer skills (MS office) and ability to work with electronic record management systems are essential. 
  • Has a valid Driver’s License or Ability to Obtain a License.
Education Requirements

Education Required:

  • BS or MS in physical science, environmental engineering, chemical engineering, environmental science or equivalent education.   
  • Masters Degree is preferred
