Job Summary

Supervise staff and company resources to provide underground transmission engineering solutions for Electric Transmission capital projects. Manage the creation and maintenance of internal policies and procedures.  Manage underground transmission support for state corporation commission (SCC) filings and technical interrogatory responses. Ensure project deliverables (estimates, feasibility studies, ampacity calculations, detailed design packages, etc.) are completed on time, on budget, and to the highest possible quality. Maintain the highest level of engineering best practices and standards. Grow and maintain a team of technical experts in the field of underground transmission engineering. Ensure engineering solutions meet all internal and external standards and requirements. Actively participate in external underground transmission industry groups (ICC, AEIC, IEEE, CIGRE, EPRI). Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following:

7+ years directly related experience experience within the power transmission engineering utility space (Underground transmission engineering experience is preferred)

  • Advanced knowledge in the electric transmission field.
  • General knowledge of utility construction techniques, processes, and requirements.
  • Demonstrates leadership and coaching skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact and develop relationships with project managers, construction teams, consultants, O&M teams, contractors, and engineers.
  • Demonstrates the ability to process information quickly and effectively manage multiple tasks.
  • Planning, organizing, and project management skills required.
  • Ability to multitask across varying departments and work functions (engineering, CAD support, one-line management, business process improvement, etc.)
  • Proactive approach to problem identification and problem solving.

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: 

Bachelor

Preferred Discipline(s):  Engineering

Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above.

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

Preferred: PE, PMP
