Job Summary

  • Supervise company and contract resources to effectively manage electric transmission and distribution projects.
  • Supervise all company and contract resources required to support traditional project scopes and EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) with providing Program Leadership of the CapEx, GTP, GI, and Reliability Budget.
  • Assign work activities to ensure Substation and Transmission Line projects are on time, on scope, and on budget. This involves majority of scope for the Dominion Project Execution portfolio — some examples of duties: providing coaching/mentoring project process, drafting RFPs, reviewing and analyzing bids.
  • Provide technical oversight and guidance for all within the department. This guidance may involve providing practical field knowledge and engineering experience to develop comprehensive project solutions that are both constructable and cost effective.
  • Manage the project management team required for green field and brown field project development and execution activities with a primary focus on substation and transmission energy facilities for both traditional and EPC projects.
  • Lead organization in conducting due diligence on prospective partners to development opportunities for “turn-key" responsibility for construction of the Distribution and Transmission facilities.
  • Work across internal departments to develop an implementation strategy for this portfolio of projects that will meet customer, regulatory, and government requirements.
  • Engage internal teams on land acquisition, permitting and other regulatory activities, engineering, procurement, construction, and public relations and financing (budgeting, cost control, etc.).
  • Develop and pursue business opportunities with existing contract resources or new potential contract resources.
  • Provide business and project management guidance during the development, construction, testing and startup phase of projects.
  • Communicate with internal and external customers to obtain requirements and expectations for the portfolio of projects.
  • Coordinate the turnover of the new facilities to the Operations and Maintenance Team(s) to enable a seamless transition into commercial operations.
  • Provide executive updates and progress reports as directed.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • 7+ years of significant directly related experience required including a minimum of 5 years directly related project management experience.
  • 8-10 years electric utility experience preferred.
  • 3 years of field experience within electric utility construction or related field support preferred.
  • Directly related project execution experience preferred.
  • Leadership and coaching skills
  • Effective decision-making skills and negotiating skills.
  • Planning, organizing and project management skills.
  • Ability to process information quickly and effectively manage multiple tasks.
  • Knowledge of engineering principles and ability to solve complex problems.
  • Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills (including technical writing).
  • Demonstrated ability to think analytically and solve complex problems.

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Bachelor

Preferred Disciplines: Business, Engineering, Engineering Technology.

Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above.

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

Electrical Engineering PE preferred. Project Management Professional Certification (PMP) preferred.
