Job Summary
The Senior Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, performance, and efficiency of the organization's technology infrastructure, including servers, workstations, and network components. This role requires a highly skilled technical professional with extensive experience in infrastructure management, systems administration, and enterprise technology operations.
The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving abilities, a passion for continuous improvement, and the ability to collaborate effectively across IT teams to support business goals and technology initiatives.
Storage Administration
- Administer and support enterprise storage platforms including:
- Block storage (SAN/GAD): Hitachi VSP environments with Global-Active Device (GAD)
- SAN Fabric: Brocade Fibre Channel switches
- File storage: NetApp (ONTAP)
- Object storage: Hitachi Content Platform (HCP)
- Provision, configure, and manage storage resources (LUNs, volumes, shares, buckets)
- Perform capacity planning, performance monitoring, and tuning
- Manage replication, failover, and disaster recovery solutions
Operations & Support
- Provide Tier 2/3 support for storage incidents, outages, and performance issues
- Participate in on-call rotation and respond to critical incidents
- Execute firmware upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management
- Support backup, recovery, and data protection integrations (e.g., Rubrik or similar platforms)
- Maintain accurate documentation of storage configurations, procedures, and automation workflows
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure storage systems meet regulatory and security requirements, including:
- Department of Defense (DoD) controls
- NERC CIP standards
- SOX compliance requirements
- Support audits by providing documentation, evidence, and remediation plans
- Implement and maintain data retention, encryption, and access control policies
Cloud & Hybrid Integration
- Support storage integration with Azure and AWS workloads
- Assist in extending or migrating storage services into cloud environments
- Collaborate on hybrid storage architectures, automation frameworks, and data mobility strategies
Collaboration
- Work closely with infrastructure, network, server, and application teams
- Support platform initiatives such as VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) and OpenShift
- Participate in infrastructure modernization, automation, and optimization projects
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
The knowledge, skills, abilities and experiences that are required for entry into this job include the following:
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in enterprise storage administration
- 1+ yeas of experience in compliance and or regulatory experience
- Hands-on experience with:
- Hitachi VSP storage and Global-Active Device (GAD)
- Brocade Fibre Channel SAN environments
- NetApp ONTAP (file services)
- Object storage platforms (HCP preferred)
- Strong understanding of:
- SAN/NAS architectures
- Fibre Channel networking and zoning
- Data replication and disaster recovery strategies
- Compliance & Regulatory Experience
- Working knowledge of:
- NERC CIP requirements
- SOX controls and audit processes
- DoD security frameworks
- Experience supporting regulated environments and audit readiness
- Experience with automation and scripting (PowerShell, Python, or similar)
- Experience supporting production data center operations
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to VMware (vSphere/VCF) or container platforms (OpenShift)
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure and/or AWS storage services)
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code concepts
- Experience with automation/orchestration tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform)
- Experience integrating infrastructure changes into DevOps workflows
- Familiarity with backup and recovery platforms (e.g., Rubrik)
Soft Skills
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to work independently in a hybrid environment
- Effective communication and documentation skills
- Detail-oriented with a focus on operational excellence, automation, and compliance
