To help ensure that its four nuclear power stations are ready to meet the challenges ahead, Dominion Energy is investing hundreds of millions of dollars to update and upgrade key equipment at each site.  These improvements are generally large in scale and complexity and require exceptional project management to be implemented with excellence.  To support these ongoing efforts, Dominion Energy’s Nuclear Project Team is actively seeking an experienced Senior Controls Specialist – Financial Controls (“Specialist”).

Job Summary

 

The Specialist will be primarily focused on the development and implementation of cost controls for large capital projects across Dominion Energy’s fleet of four nuclear power stations.  They will be directly responsible for establishing and implementing standardized cost and planning control policies, procedures, and tools. The Specialist will also oversee ongoing governance/enforcement of standard practices.

 

Involving specific capital projects, the Specialist will serve as a subject matter expert in the formation of cost estimates and project schedules.  Once launched, they will be responsible for monitoring actual project cost and/or work status data to help ensure that projects proceed on schedule and within budget.  Additional responsibilities include:

 

  • Analyzing monthly cost reports
  • Providing status reports to management
  • Assisting in the training of lower-level controls personnel
  • Implementing, evaluating, and monitoring controls systems
  • Coordinating the use of controls equipment and facilities
  • Conducting meetings with contractors and company personnel on cost control matters
  • Acting as lead controls discipline representative to major projects

 

In all aspects of their role, the PM will be expected to establish and nurture productive relationships with stakeholders from across the organization. This will require the Specialist to communicate with precision and purpose.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experiences that are required for entry into this job include the following:

 

  • Five (5) or more years of work experience related to the fields of cost controls, accounting, budgeting, finance, business administration, or project management (with a preferred Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Project Management or closely related degree)
  • In lieu of the preferred Bachelor's degree, a candidate may substitute a related Associate's degree and seven (7) or more years of work experience related to the fields of cost controls, accounting, budgeting, finance, business administration, or project management
  • In lieu of the preferred Bachelor’s degree, a candidate may substitute a High School diploma/GED and nine (9) or more years of work experience related to the fields of cost controls, accounting, budgeting, finance, business administration, or project management

Education Requirements

 

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:

Bachelor

 

Preferred Disciplines:  Accounting, Finance, Business, or closely related degree

 

Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

 

Preferred Candidates will possess additional training or certifications related to cost controls, financial management, or project management to include the Project Management Professional (PMP).
