Job Summary

 

The growth and evolution of the nuclear power industry places new challenges on the leaders of Dominion Energy’s Nuclear division. To support our senior leaders in obtaining and nurturing the knowledge, skills, and attributes needed for maximum success, the Fleet Performance and Organizational Effectiveness department is expanding its team.

 

The Nuclear Organizational Effectiveness Leader (OR Leader) will help Nuclear achieve the highest levels of performance by strengthening the capabilities of our site leadership teams to include senior and mid-level leaders.  The OR Leader will play an active role in identifying best practices, discovering opportunities for improvement, building tools & resources, conducting operational analysis, and providing oversight to these efforts.

 

More specifically, the OR Leader will:

 

  • Provide strategic input to fleet leadership development training, including experiential learning opportunities and providing insights from observations, leadership assessments and surveys, and partners with the station to implement Leadership Development Continuing Training
  • Partner with HR on talent reviews and succession planning to ensure that OR and Leadership Development processes and outcomes are aligned and effective in improving station performance, leader and employee engagement
  • Increases effectiveness of Performance Management process as owned and modeled by leaders developing and coaching their teams using quality individual development plans (IDPs). Reviews IDPs and meets with managers and supervisors to provide coaching and improvement of IDPs to maximize their intended value.
  • Conducts observations to assess organizational and leadership strengths and shortfalls; observations of team meetings and in-field observations of the leadership team as they work with their employees enable the Nuclear OR Leader to evaluate the leadership strengths and shortfalls in the station organizations. Analyzes plant data and conducts interviews and observations to identify issues and their underlying causes
  • Provides coaching, support and guidance around organizational effectiveness and performance recovery to site leadership teams, including providing observations and mentoring of individuals responsible for performance improvement activities to improve the culture as needed. Identify individual change agents and authorize them to influence the culture to mandate improved performance.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

 

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following:

 

  • At least 10 years of Nuclear industry experience to include Operations, Maintenance, Engineering or related technical area (can include INPO and military nuclear experience)
  • At least 4 years of experience in a titled Supervisor or Manager role within the  Nuclear industry
  • Prior experience and demonstrated understanding of organizational effectiveness concepts and the ability to develop insights and develop solutions around performance drivers
  • Demonstrated management and leadership capability to: influence others, foster an inclusive environment, coordinate resources, communicate in a clear and concise manner, and provide feedback to improve individual and team performance;
  • Advanced knowledge of industry standards and best practices in leadership effectiveness, team effectiveness, and management model development and implementation
  • Advanced knowledge of industry standards and best practices in the performance improvement and operating experience programs, to include the corrective action program
  • Ability to lead and manage people and teams
  • Ability to observe, coach and provide feedback to team members in all levels of the organization
  • Ability to critically analyze, discern and interpret various data elements and information sources
  • Ability to communicate complex issues in simple, yet compelling messages to managers and executives who have a wide variety of experience
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results and continuous improvement
  • Ability to collaborate with stakeholders to drive organizational improvements and influence as necessary to gain fleet consistency
  • Ability to work with and develop a rapport with all levels in the organization
  • Experience working with key leaders to resolve issues
  • Proven effectiveness in building strong relationships with leaders and individual contributors at all levels
  • Ability to support leaders in aligning their people with the right workflows, role design and organizational structure to achieve maximum efficiency and outcomes
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills, including interpersonal, facilitation, and presentation capabilities
  • Leadership courage to engage and influence peers, observe, coach, and provide critical feedback to senior leaders and all levels of the organization
  • Personal commitment to the overall success of the SLT
  • Capability to influence without position authority
  • Drive to improve organizational performance and excellence.

 

Preferred Candidates will also possess:

  • Prior work experience with INPO
  • Senior Reactor Operator license or Nuclear management certification

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:
