Job Summary
Dominion Energy’s Electric Transmission (ET) Asset Management Department is seeking a forward-thinking and technically grounded leader to head the evolution of our digital asset management ecosystem. This role is instrumental to our mission of enabling risk-informed, lifecycle-based asset strategies powered by data.
The selected candidate will lead a team responsible for developing and scaling fit-for-purpose digital tools that support condition-based maintenance, failure prediction, root cause analysis, and fleet performance visibility. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of our digital asset management strategy through the strategic evaluation, selection, and implementation of a scalable Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) platform by assessing commercial solutions or continued in-house tool development. Additionally, this role provides oversight for a team of subject matter experts responsible for executing DC System projects, assessing DC System health, and recommending solutions promoting system reliability and resilient field operations.
The role requires strong technical acumen, excellent cross-functional leadership, and the ability to translate operational needs into integrated digital solutions. Success will depend on strategic alignment with IT, deep collaboration with Supply Chain and Engineering, and engagement with industry peers through groups such as EPRI, NATF, and IEEE.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and technical guidance for a team delivering digital solutions in support of asset lifecycle management.
- Lead the continued enhancement of current digital tools while evaluating and guiding the future direction of the EAM platform.
- Develop and execute a long-term roadmap that integrates operational data, condition monitoring, and asset health insights into decision support systems.
- Provide oversight, routine support, and assistance in obtaining necessary resources to team of subject matter experts responsible for DC System project execution and system reliability.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with IT to ensure long-term tool support, architecture alignment, and enterprise integration.
- Represent Dominion in external working groups (e.g., EPRI, NATF, IEEE, peer utility forums) to benchmark approaches and shape our EAM strategy.
- Oversee prioritization and execution of team projects supporting compliance, failure mitigation, O&M optimization, and long-term reliability.
- Drive adoption of analytics-driven programs that reduce reliance on institutional knowledge and promote scalable, programmatic decision-making.
- Translate team progress and technical milestones into strategic insights for senior leadership, providing clear reporting and actionable recommendations to ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Develop compelling business cases for strategic investments in technology and tools, to secure necessary resources and stakeholder buy-in.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
- 10+ years of relevant professional experience, ideally in roles bridging operations, engineering, analytics, and IT systems.
- Demonstrated success leading large-scale IT initiatives, including strategic oversight of platform selection, system integration, and digital transformation.
- Solid understanding of data modeling, database design, and the principles behind developing data pipelines for analytics and operational systems.
- Strong working knowledge of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Demonstrated experience overseeing the architecture, integration, or extension of enterprise-level systems such as SAP, Maximo, or other commercial EAM platforms.
- Strong technical depth to actively contribute to architectural, platform-level, and integration discussions, with a demonstrated ability to influence system design and long-term scalability through cross-functional collaboration and strategic decision-making.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to translate technical requirements into business strategy and vice versa.
- Experience with substation equipment and transmission O&M practices is a plus.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage stakeholders, and deliver results aligned with enterprise asset management goals.
