Job Summary
Dominion Energy is launching a bold, high‑impact organization within Equipment Reliability, Equipment Reliability and Strategic Initiatives (ERSI), designed to accelerate fleetwide performance and elevate long‑term operational excellence. The Engineering Technical Consultant will leverage operations experience to support the fleetwide improvement of Dominion Energy’s Equipment Reliability and Operating Experience programs. In this role, you will ensure consistent and effective implementation of the fleet Operating Experience (OE) program, including evaluating OE relevance, verifying station responses, and helping drive timely corrective actions. The position will partner with engineering and system owners across multiple nuclear sites to support system vulnerability reviews, identify reliability‑related weaknesses, and assist with the implementation of fleet‑identified corrective actions and long‑term improvements.
You will also serve as a technical resource responsible for maintaining and improving fleet Equipment Reliability databases, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and standardization in support of industry best practices and long‑range reliability planning. This role requires advanced technical judgment, strong analytical capability, and the ability to collaborate across disciplines to translate data, OE insights, and program expectations into meaningful station‑level improvements. The successful candidate will apply their operational background to help sites strengthen decision‑making, reduce vulnerabilities, and drive consistent performance across the fleet.
May perform same work as titled Engineers, but possesses an engineering degree which is not ABET-accredited.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following:
- Bachelors degree and 7+ years directly related experience; In lieu of preferred related Bachelor's degree, may substitute Associate's degree and 9+ years directly related experience; High School diploma/GED and 11+ years directly related experience.
- In-depth and comprehensive knowledge of engineering principals, theories and practices.
- In-depth knowledge of industry codes, government regulations and company policies and practices.
- In-depth knowledge of design and operation of complex systems and equipment.
- Ability to apply expert knowledge, techniques, skills and modern tools of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to solve complex and broadly-defined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline.
- Ability to design systems, components, or processes meeting specified needs for broadly defined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline.
- Strong oral, written and graphical communication skills including technical writing;
- ability to identify and use appropriate technical literature.
- Ability to conduct standard tests, measurements and experiments.
- Ability to analyze and interpret the results to improve processes.
- Equally effective working independently and in a team environment.
- Excellent organization and project management skills and evaluation techniques.
- Excellent personal computer skills including knowledge of applicable software programs.
- Strong leadership skills.

- Operations experience highly preferred
- Reactor Operator (RO) License OR Non-Licensed Operator (NLO) Preferred
Education Requirements
Bachelor preferred in Engineering or Engineering Technology and 7+ years directly related experience;
In lieu of preferred related Bachelor's degree, may substitute Associate's degree and 9+ years directly related experience;
High School diploma/GED and 11+ years directly related experience.
Degree equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Bachelor
In order to be a titled Engineering Technical Specialist, you must meet one of the following criteria:
- 4-year Engineering Technology degree or 4-year degree in Engineering (not ABET-accredited); or
- 4-year degree in Physics, Math, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Engineering or other technical related discipline; or
- 4-year non-technical degree and post-graduate degree in Engineering Technology or Engineering (not ABET-accredited); or
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred degree
