Job Summary

Dominion Energy is launching a bold, high‑impact organization within Equipment Reliability, Equipment Reliability and Strategic Initiatives (ERSI), designed to accelerate fleetwide performance and elevate long‑term operational excellence. This role is part of the founding team, offering a rare chance to help build a new enterprise‑wide function from the ground up, influence initiatives across the entire Dominion fleet, and take on some of our most critical strategic reliability challenges. This Consulting Engineer will serve as an Equipment Reliability Program Manager supporting multiple Dominion Energy nuclear sites, providing programmatic leadership, technical expertise, and strategic guidance to strengthen and standardize industry best practices implementation across the Dominion Energy fleet. In this role, you will partner closely with site Plant Health Committees, system engineers, and station leadership to enhance equipment reliability performance through effective metric analysis, heat map development, long‑range equipment planning, and cross‑site issue resolution. The position requires a strong understanding of engineering and equipment reliability principles, the ability to translate program insights into actionable improvements, and the consultative skillset to drive alignment, consistency, and continuous improvement at each station.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience that are required for entry into this job include the following:

 

  • Bachelor's in Engineering and 10+ years directly related experience; In lieu of preferred related Bachelor's degree, may substitute Associate's degree and 12+ years directly related experience; High School diploma/GED and 14+ years directly related experience.
  • An Engineering PhD can be substituted for up to 5 years experience based on research engineering work on directly related projects approved by executive leadership;
  • In-depth knowledge of engineering theories, principles and practices to a broad variety of assignments and related field;
  • Knowledge of business/financial and contractual matters;
  • Recognized expert by other engineers and management;
  • Provides expert technical consultation to other engineers and management;
  • Skilled in the use of advanced engineering techniques;
  • Strong planning and project management skills;
  • Strong technical and organizational leadership skills;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing);
  • In depth knowledge of various computer applications, with the ability to manipulate personal computer applications and perform engineering calculations using applicable software programs (e.g. Engage, Matlab, Excel, etc.);
  • Proven decision making skills;
  • Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems;
  • Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices;
  • Ability to process information quickly and effectively manage multiple tasks;
  • Equally effective working independently or in team environment

 

REQUIRED ENGINEERING CRITERIA:

For placement of a candidate in a Consulting Engineer title, the following criteria must be met:

Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program based on the year that the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or

Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own Engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or

Possess a 4-year degree in Engineering (non-ABET accredited), Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate Engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same Engineering discipline is ABET-accredited based on the year the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or

 

Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.

 
Holds, or has previously held, an active Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) or Reactor Operator (RO) license.

Education Requirements

Education Level: Degree required (equivalence accepted in lieu of degree):

 

Bachelor in Engineering and 10+ years directly related experience

 

Associate's degree and 12+ years directly related experience

 

High School diploma/GED and 14+ years directly related experience

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

Preferred:

Professional Engineer (PE)

Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) or Reactor Operator (RO) license.

Other:

Depending on functional responsibilities and location of position, must review ANS 3.1 12/79, ANSI N18.1-1971 or ANSI/ANS 3.1-1993 and DOM-QA-1 as appropriate.
