We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.
Military service members and veterans with ranks from E5-E9, W1-CW5, or O3-O6, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined below will be considered for this opportunity.

Job Summary
Provides strong technical expertise in support of the Digital Substation Program for design, testing, and commissioning. Possess and applies advanced knowledge of the IEC-6150 technology and significant relevant experience to independently perform difficult and the most complex technical work. Responsible for providing expert technical support, direction and advice for the development of Digital Substation Program., Performs engineering evaluations, calculations, analysis and design to support the requirements of the designated equipment, testing, and work procedures. Exercises independent judgment and decision making to solve complex engineering problems and to manage multifaceted complex projects, including scoping, scheduling, budget development, cost tracking and oversight to meet cost and time objectives. Requires significant experience as a technical lead as well as specialized certifications, education, knowledge or experience required by the work.
The role will be responsible for the Implementation of the Digital Substation Program
- Digital Substation design consultant, working closely with ETFO and other organizations
- Support the set up of the new D.I.C.E. integration bay and RTDS commissioning lab
- Create Commissioning procedures for all IEC-61850 solutions
- Material SME for IEC-61850 equipment
- Support ETFO of the development of technician training for digital substations
- Support all new commissioning of new digital substation solutions.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following:
- 7-8+ years of relevant experience and demonstrated competencies in applicable discipline.
- In-depth and comprehensive knowledge of engineering principals, theories and practices.
- In-depth knowledge of industry codes, government regulations and company policies and practices.
- In-depth knowledge of design and operation of complex systems and equipment.
- Ability to apply expert knowledge, techniques, skills and modern tools of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to solve complex and broadly-defined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline.
- Ability to design systems, components, or processes meeting specified needs for broadly defined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline.
- Strong oral, written and graphical communication skills including technical writing; ability to identify and use appropriate technical literature.
- Ability to conduct standard tests, measurements and experiments.
- Ability to analyze and interpret the results to improve processes.
- Equally effective working independently and in a team environment.
- Excellent organization and project management skills and evaluation techniques.
- Excellent personal computer skills including knowledge of applicable software programs.
- Strong leadership skills. Proven decision making skills.
- Ability to address issues applying analytical and abstract thinking.
- Ability to resolve problems and process information quickly.
Education Requirements
Degree equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:
Bachelor
Preferred: Engineering Technology or Physics
In order to be a titled Engineering Technical Specialist, you must meet one of the following criteria:
- 4-year Engineering Technology degree or 4-year degree in Engineering (not ABET-accredited); or
- 4-year degree in Physics, Math, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Engineering or other technical related discipline; or
- 4-year non-technical degree and post-graduate degree in Engineering Technology or Engineering (not ABET-accredited); or
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred degree
