We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.
Military service members and veterans with ranks from E5-E9, W1-CW5, or O3-O6, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined below will be considered for this opportunity. 
 
Job Summary
The candidate will be part of a team that provides technical support for Dominion Energy’s Electric Transmission Lines field operations personnel. This position is specifically responsible for supporting asset management initiatives to design, operate, maintain, and upgrade transmission line assets cost effectively within systematic processes.
Responsibilities include:
- Perform the 3D modeling & design of high voltage overhead transmission lines utilizing PLS CADD software. This may also include the modeling of steel pole or tower structures in PLS Pole/Tower software.
- Interface with other departments within Dominion Energy, such as Project Management, Construction, Supply Chain, Permitting & Route Selection, Real Estate, Right-of-Way Administration, and Transmission Operations and Maintenance.
- Interest in implementing innovative solutions that increase efficiency and reliability of the transmission system (examples are machine learning, data management, DLR, robotics, and UAV's).
- Support Fault Analysis Group in investigating sources of momentary interruptions on transmission lines (FALLS lightning program, contamination problems, etc.).
- Support Transmission Linemen in the field with operational challenges, emergency designs, and emergency response. Provides expert technical advice to other engineers and management in assigned area.
- Support emergency restoration efforts for catastrophic failures with initial situational assessments, coordination of engineering efforts, development and execution of plan. This position will have a role in the storm center.
- Participate in trade and industry organizations and benchmarking activities.
- Plans and conducts complex work requiring independent judgment in the evaluation, selection, adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria
- Possesses and applies advanced engineering knowledge and skills to provide technical expertise, guidance to all levels of engineers and/or team leadership.
- Perform research to find innovative and cost-effective engineering solutions to operational problems within assigned area.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
The knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience that are required for entry into this job include the following:
- Engineer - 2+ years of related experience
- Sr. Engineer - 5+ years of related experience
- Staff Engineer - 8+ years of related experience
- 8+ years of relevant engineering experience (An Engineering PhD can be substituted for up to 5 years’ experience based on research engineering work on related projects approved by executive leadership.)
- Extensive knowledge of engineering theories, principles, and practices to a broad variety of assignments and related field.
- Extensive skilled in use of advanced techniques and modification and extension of theories, precepts and practices of the field and related sciences and disciplines.
- Recognized expert by other engineers and management in assigned area.
- Skilled in the use of advanced engineering techniques.
- Transmission line design and construction experience is highly preferred.
- Strong planning and project management skills.
- Strong technical and organizational leadership skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing).
- In depth knowledge of various computer applications, with the ability to manipulate personal computer applications and perform engineering calculations using applicable software programs (e.g., Matlab, Excel, etc.). Proficiency in PLS CADD is a plus.
- Proven decision-making skills.
- Demonstrated ability to think analytically and solve complex problems.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply codes, regulations, and practices.
- Demonstrated ability to process information quickly and effectively manage multiple tasks.
- Equally effective working independently or in team environment
REQUIRED ENGINEEERING CRITERIA: 
For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series, the following criteria must be met:   
- Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program based on the year that the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
- Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own Engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or
- Possess a 4-year degree in Engineering (non-ABET accredited), Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate Engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same Engineering discipline is ABET-accredited based on the year the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
- Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.
