Job Summary

The safe and reliable performance of Dominion Energy’s nuclear fleet depends heavily upon our team of engineering professionals.  The Innsbrook Nuclear Fleet Design Engineering & Programs team is currently seeking an Engineer or Senior Engineer (“Engineer”) to fill a position in the Corporate Engineering Mechanics group.  The group provides engineering support to Dominion Energy’s fleet of four nuclear power stations with a focus on evaluating the integrity of essential components such as piping, vessels, and valves.  Should a component require repair or replacement, the group develops solutions that can be implemented at the site.  The group also supports a variety of projects tied directly to subsequent license renewals and is often asked to provide supplemental resources during a site outage.

The Engineer will be actively engaged in performing pipe stress analysis, pipe and component support structural analysis, flaw evaluations in piping and vessels using fracture mechanics, and equipment seismic qualification support for the Dominion fleet of nuclear power stations.  The individual in this role will work within a group of subject matter experts in the following areas:  Pipe stress analysis using computer modeling to meet ANSI B31.1 and ASME Section III Codes; Structural analysis of piping and component supports (AISC/ASD); Analysis of pressure vessels (ASME Section III and VIII); Flaw evaluation in piping, vessels and components using fracture mechanics; Equipment seismic qualification (IPEEE / SQUG); Seismic fragility analysis to support Probabilistic Risk Assessments).

The Engineer will need to demonstrate advanced engineering analysis balanced with sound judgment of potential solutions.   High energy and personal initiative will be essential to meeting the challenges stemming from the quantity and variety of support requests.  Building effective partnerships with the site-based engineering teams will also be vital, and these relationships will be enhanced by an Engineer who can work at the sites occasionally to assist the station engineering staff.
