Job Summary

This is the second level of a three level job series responsible for designing, developing, implementing and maintaining the organization's Emergency Preparedness Program. Following defined policies and procedures with the occasional guidance of more experienced staff, this role may act as the team representative or occasionally lead in the development of business continuity and crisis response plans, and will plan, schedule and conduct a wide variety of complex Emergency Preparedness exercises to ensure organizational readiness in the event of an emergency. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, program planning, leading training programs, drills and exercises. Supports or occasionally leads in preparedness planning. Supports Emergency Response Facility technical needs during activations. Provides support to other parts of the organization with data requests and information gathering, to enable them to make good business decisions and to respond legal interrogatories. May oversee improvement and maintenance of the Emergency Preparedness website and software. Helps to monitor major response expenditures for proper accounting and future deployment decisions. Provides support to the various Operations systems (SRRS, TRS, GIS, ARCOS Databases, Everbridge) as required. Develops and improves operational screens, programs and reports.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following:

3+ years of relevant experience in directly related field. 

General understanding of emergency preparedness policies and procedures, techniques and methodology. Some knowledge of federal and state regulations and policies governing emergency response and preparedness. General understanding of plant procedures and processes and operational departments. Ability to follow work direction and assess plant compliance with emergency policies and procedures with guidance from experienced staff. Ability to learn and gain working knowledge of federal, state and local regulations governing emergency preparedness.Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with internal staff to communicate program requirements.

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:

Bachelor
Preferred Discipline:  Business Administration, Emergency Management

Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above.
