Job Summary

Dominion Energy’s Transmission Line Engineering department is seeking a motivated Designer who will be responsible for supporting Engineers in the development of transmission engineering design packages.  This work is vital to support the Company’s transmission growth plans and includes support of projects varying in size and complexity.  While this position is primarily in an office environment, periodic field trips to Dominion transmission lines will be required. 

This person will create and modify the following detailed drawings and documents on transmission projects: construction/operating onelines, general arrangement drawings, , detailed engineering & SCC Application drafting support, system walkdown and archive correction support, ETL Asset request support, plan and profile support, danger tree chart support, construction package development support, etc. 

 

Perform other duties and special projects as necessary.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Experiences Required:

  • 1+ years of Design experience or Utility work related
  • 1+ years of Microstation or AutoCad experience (required)
  • General understanding of electrical, mechanical and civil design concepts.
  • Competency in applying technical concepts, standards, processes and procedures. 
  • Ability to think analytically and solve problems.
  • Effective oral, interpersonal and written communication skills (including technical writing).
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance, but knows when to get others involved.
  • Experience with interpreting technical drawings (i.e. onelines, outline diagrams) is a plus.
  • Detail and quality oriented, but knows how to get things done on time.

Military service members and veterans with ranks from E5-E9, W1-CW5, or O3-O6 plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined (above / below).
