Job Summary

 

This position will be filled at either the Electric Transmission Construction Specialist II or III level commensurate with the successful candidates education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities

 

Electric Transmission Construction Specialist II (Fully-competent role) 

 

Electric Transmission Construction Specialist III (This role is the top progression level position)

 

These  role will  be responsible for:

  • substation site prep/grading
  • Transmission Line/Foundation Construction
  • Construction Forestry/Clearing
  • Access/Erosion & Sediment Controls/Rehabilitation
  • Substation Electrical Construction

 

Advanced support may include analyzing and evaluating technical documentation, equipment, process improvements, field conditions and other programs for assurance that construction work is performed in accordance with Company policy, procedures, and/or requirements. Resolves complex issues that may arise.  Frequently exercises judgment in modifying the detail of work being performed to accommodate field conditions. Makes initial contact with customers and maintains communications when performing work on private property.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and education required for entry into this job include the following:

 

Electric Transmission Construction Specialist II: 3+ years directly related experience with a preferred Associate Degree (Or 5+ years directly related experience with a High School degree or equivalent) 

 

Electric Transmission Construction Specialist III: 5+ years directly related experience with a preferred Associate Degree (Or 7+ years directly related experience with a High School degree or equivalent)

 

*Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications

 

  • Advanced knowledge of operations, maintenance and technical construction applications
  • Strong knowledge of contract administration and OSHA safety standards
  • Skilled in applying engineering and construction theories and concepts to complex problems
  • Skilled in interpreting codes, regulations and practices
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including good technical writing skills
  • Good computer skills and knowledge, including an ability to use Microsoft Office programs as well as customized software applications
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and abstract thinking skills
  • Strong planning, organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment under a team lead concept, and ability to provide guidance and mentorship to others
  • Skilled in coordinating multiple tasks at multiple locations
  • Skilled in interacting with the public
  •  Military service members and veterans with ranks from E5-E9, W1-CW5, or O3-O6, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined (above/below

Preferred Associate Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education

Associated certifications preferred: International Arborist, State and Federal Certifications for Erosion and Sedimentation Control, Responsible Land Disturber, Construction Management or Project Management.
