Job Summary
- This role functions as a subject matter and technical expert in Electric Transmission Construction.
- Provides inputs to and reviews SAP project schedules.
- Utilizes deliverables from the Project Manager’s team to develop logistics, mobilize resources and assign work activities for internal and external resources.
- Reviews Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) and Specification books for transfer to field resources providing project oversight.
- Utilizes Conceptual Phase Request information to prepare detailed cost estimates by discipline of work to be performed (Forestry; Access/Erosion & Sedimentation Controls/Rehab; Line Construction; Foundation Construction; Civil/Grading Construction).
- Reviews and approves invoices and disbursements, ensuring compliance with Expenditure Control Policy.
- Functions as a SME to provide guidance and oversight to ensure all environmental regulations are adhered to and that periodic SWPPP inspections are scheduled and completed.
- Develops detailed scope of work, schedules, and milestones and provides to Supply Chain Management for use in the RFX bid process.
- Functions in a key role related to purchase order creation and interpretation, contract management/enforcement, change order processing and requisition preparation.
- Provides a direct conduit between Engineering and Construction for adherence to design standards.
- Promotes safety through on-site observations and coaching of construction resources.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
- Requires extensive directly related experience (transmission line or heavy construction):
- 11+ years with HS/GED
- 9+ years with related Associate’s degree
- 7+ years with related Bachelor’s degree
- Advanced knowledge of construction, operations and maintenance of transmission lines; switching, tagging and grounding; concrete construction
- Strong knowledge of contract administration and OSHA safety standards
- Strong knowledge of computer programs
- Skills: strong written and verbal communication; project management; public relations
- Abilities: read and understand technical specifications; work independently; evaluate problems and make sound decisions; analytical and conceptual thinking; adapt to changing conditions and demands; physical attributes required to perform essential functions of the job-lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, bending, prolonged standing and manual dexterity
Education Requirements
Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Bachelor
Preferred Disciplines: Construction Management; Engineering Technology; Project Management
Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above.
