Job Summary

This role is responsible for overseeing HR support for the nuclear business segment within Dominion Energy. Responsible for proactively working with executives to identify HR needs and provide solutions to meet those needs. This role directs, implements and administers human resources policies and programs including talent acquisition, employee and labor relations, compensation, performance management, workforce and succession planning and other human resources initiatives. Recommends enhancements to the content, communication and execution of human resources policies and practices that lead to effective business outcomes.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Serves as a trusted “thought leader” with a practical business perspective on the vision and strategy for enterprise talent programs to ensure alignment with the business needs, recommending and overseeing the implementation of future-focused HR processes, policies and practices that deliver on strategic business objectives.
  • Inspires trust, serves as a strategic advisor, and builds strong relationships with senior stakeholders; develops and presents recommendations for business-specific talent programs and workforce-related initiatives.
  • Establishes clear expectations for risk mitigation and issue escalation related to all employment practices; receives escalations, coaches direct reports, makes decisions, strategizes/takes action to reach resolution, and escalates further as necessary.
  • Informs the design and implementation of enterprise-wide HR programs, structures, processes and technology; accountable for socialization and successful implementation of approved initiatives.
  • Monitors external trends and best practices in nuclear-related areas, to include Human Resource/Talent Management; evaluates the business needs and recommends solutions based on data-driven analysis; executes scalable programs and solutions that achieve business objectives.
  • Adopts a growth mindset with a focus on continuous improvement; looks for opportunities to create efficiencies and add value based on the business segment’s (and broader company’s) unique workforce needs.
  • Regularly reviews and evaluates the effectiveness of HR programs in area of responsibility; recommends and/or makes modifications to maintain value and relevancy.
  • Stays abreast of changes in laws, regulations, policies, and programs relevant to employee relations and employment practices, ensuring adherence to legal requirements and Company policies.
  • Oversees forecasts, budgets, resources and initiative performance in areas of responsibility.
  • Builds an effective, collaborative team.
  • Provides leadership and direction to direct reports to ensure executional excellence and strong compliance with all applicable legislation, regulations, and Company policies and procedures.
  • Invests time in coaching, mentoring, supporting and developing team members to achieve desired performance and career outcomes.
    Informs, distributes and reinforces internal communications related to leadership messages, HR-initiated projects and processes, and organizational announcements.
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experiences that are required for entry into this job include the following: 

  • 10-14+ years of related experience.  Note: A Master's degree will count as one year of experience towards the experience requirement.  A partial year of six months or more experience will be rounded up to one year.
  • 3+ years of formal leadership experience.
  • Full knowledge of HR policies, guidelines and procedures
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent leadership skills.
  • Customer service orientation.

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:  Bachelor or Master
