Job Summary

 

We are currently seeking a co-op for fall 2021 (with subsequent co-op sessions in the summer 2022 and spring 2023) in the Corporate Nuclear Engineering and Fuel Department’s Nuclear Core Design group located at Dominion’s Innsbrook Technical Center in Glen Allen, VA. At this time, Dominion Energy has not determined if this position will be held in person or virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  If this job is held virtually, all applicants will need to confirm they have access to high speed internet.  If this job is held in-person, a travel reimbursement and housing stipend may be available to interns whose permanent addresses are located more than 50 miles from the work location.

 

The Nuclear Core Design co-op may be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties supporting Dominion's nuclear units:

  • Performing reload core physics analyses
  • Fuel management calculations
  • Plant core follow and startup testing support
  • Applying neutronics codes and methods in engineering calculations
  • Project will be made based on completed coursework. Tasks will be mentored by experienced engineers.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • Knowledge of programming and analysis is preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products is desired. Proficiency in MS Excel with Macros is preferred.
  • An inquisitive nature, an ability to follow written and verbal directions, and strong professional ethics
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Solid engineering skills, commensurate with grade level.
  • Good communication skills, technical writing skills, and computer skills.

 

Education Requirements

  • Must be a student studying Nuclear Engineering or Mechanical Engineering (with a Nuclear focus) at an ABET-accredited 4-year college or university
  • Must have a graduation date of fall 2022 or later
  • Must have a 3.0 GPA or higher
