Job Summary

We are currently seeking a Co-op student for the Fall 2019 semester in the Corporate Nuclear Analysis and Fuel Department’s Nuclear Core Designgroup located at Dominion’s Innsbrook Technical Center in Glen Allen, VA.  This will be a three term rotating co-op based upon performance, with the first at-work rotation beginning with the Fall 2019 semester. 

The Nuclear Core Design Co-op may be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties supporting Dominion's nuclear units:

  • Performing reload core physics analyses
  • Fuel management calculations
  • Plant core follow, and startup testing support

    Project assignments will be made based on completed coursework.  Tasks will be mentored by experienced engineers.

    If eligible, travel to and from Glen Allen, VA at the beginning and end of the co-op is included in addition to a housing stipend.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • Knowledge of programming and analysis is preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products is desired. Proficiency in MS Excel with Macros is preferred.
  • Must be able to follow instructions and be a team player.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Solid engineering skills, commensurate with grade level.
  • Good communication skills, technical writing skills, and computer skills.
  • An inquisitive nature, an ability to follow written and verbal directions, and strong professional ethics.

Education Requirements

  • Must be a student studying Mechanical Engineering (with a Nuclear focus) or Nuclear Engineering at an ABET accredited 4 year college or university.
  • Student must have an anticipated graduation in 2021 (without a co-op)
  • Must have a 3.0 GPA or higher.
