Job Summary
The Electric Transmission System Protection Engineering (SPE) department ensures power system security and reliability through consistent application of protective relay settings and data communication networks in accordance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. System Protection Engineers develop settings for protective relays that detect and isolate electrical faults on the power system.
This cooperative education internship will be supporting one of the SPE teams. Working with a mentor, the co-op student will learn the basic concepts of Dominion Energy’s electrical system and how it is protected. During the co-op, the student will support the team by completing coordination studies, substation relay setting projects, and DER system impact studies, amongst other assignments. The coop student will be expected to learn and embrace Dominion’s corporate culture of safety, ethics, and inclusion.

Education Requirements
Bachelor's: Electrical Engineering
Graduation Years: Spring 2027 or later
Minimum GPA: 3.0
Required Engineering Criteria: For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series, the following criteria must be met:
- Must be working towards a 4-year Engineering degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program.
