We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.
Military service members and veterans with ranks from E5-E9, W1-CW5, or O3-O6, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined below will be considered for this opportunity.
Job Summary
The role will act as the CAD liaison and department internal consultant for the Substation Protection & Control Design Engineering team. The position will be responsible for representing the team’s interests in the CAD Conversion and Design Modernization projects. This will include coordinating with IT, the Substation P&C team, Standards Innovation Services Group, the Substation Engineering Standards Group and the System Protection Engineering Standards Group for any application and standards changes, workflow process changes/development, training and troubleshooting associated with these efforts.
This role is fully competent in the design and technical aspects associated with all Substation Protection & Control Design Engineering CAD initiatives and will be required to support the maintenance, improvement and troubleshooting of current CAD software and applications, supporting tools, drawing converter and viewer.
Primary Responsibilities

Act as CAD liaison with multiple internal departments including ET Standards, construction, and various internal/external engineering groups.

Coordinate all drawing conversion and integration to Autodesk Application and Vault

Assist with the development of the CAD Resource Library and tools and act as CAD subject matter expert for all external/internal engineers, designers and drafters.

Coordinate with the ET Standards groups and IT for all hardware and software/firmware upgrades, installation and maintenance to mitigate any downtime for engineering production.

Assist the Standards Innovation Services Group for all implementation, user acceptance testing, and transition into various CAD/Autodesk software/applications.

Facilitate and oversee training for P&C Team members and provide expert technical support and guidance in the proper installation and use of various CAD-related tools, software and applications associated with project execution.

Ensure the team is aligned with all technical standards and associated design specifications.

Participate in the improvement or development of Lifecycle drawing management workflows as the team transitions through CAD and data management softwares (e.g. Microstation, AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, Vault, etc.) and drawing viewers.

Oversee the P&C Team’s CAD software, tools, processes and workflows and evaluate for changes/improvements as necessary.

Develop necessary job aids and flow maps, and update CAD drafting standards as necessary.

Coordinate with the team’s external contractors, internal engineers, designers, drafters and document control specialists to ensure files are stored, transferred and received properly and data integrity is maintained. This will include the coordination for all Lifecycle drawing management to include managing the New Work In Progress (NWIP), revisions, as built and archiving processes, ensuring the life cycle, accuracy, and data integrity of all of the P&C Team's CAD files.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
- 5+ years of design experience with 2+ years of substation or utility experience.
- 3+ years of MicroStation or AutoCAD experience.
- Experience with interpreting technical drawings (i.e., relay functionals, elementary, logic & wiring diagrams, onelines and PLC drawings) is a plus.
- Experience with various Autodesk and Bentley applications
- Experience with Vault Application
- Competency in applying technical concepts, standards, processes, and procedures.
- Ability to work and develop rapport with all levels of management and staff.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including interpersonal, facilitation, and presentation capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal guidance but knows when to get others involved.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Project Management experience is a plus to this position.
- Must be able to meet NERC qualifications.
Education Requirements
Bachelors degree preferred (or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education).
Disciplines: Drafting and Design, Engineering Technology, Mechanical Drawing. Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above.
Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description
Project management experience preferred.
