Job Summary

Dominion Energy’s Nuclear Access team plays an essential role in the safe and secure operation of our four nuclear power stations.  In short, the team helps to ensure that any individual who works at one of our stations has successfully completed a thorough background check and fitness for duty screens.

 

The Associate Nuclear Access Specialist will be a member of a team that effectively manages the process for fulltime and contract employees to gain access approval at a nuclear power plant.  More specifically:   

 

  • This entry level/developmental position schedules and coordinates resources to gather, review, and/or maintain elements necessary for Unescorted Access Authorization (UAA), Unescorted Access (UA), and Fitness for Duty Programs, as required by fedral regulations.
  • Conducts interviews and reviews and evaluates criminal history.
  • Analyzes individual applications and reports, ensuring all information is accurate, complete, and truthful.
  • Reviews and evaluates all data collected about an individual, including potentially disqualifying information, to determine whether the individual may be granted Unescorted Access Authorization or Unescorted Access.
  • Documents and tracks authorization steps for employees and contractors.
  • Produces accurate and timely documentation of notes and findings in Illuminate application.
  • Maintains and secure electronic case files.

 

In all aspects of their role, the Associate Nuclear Access Specialist will strive to ensure that Dominion Energy is compliant with regulatory requirements and industry standards.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

To be qualified for the Associate Nuclear Access Specialist, one most meet the following minimum requirement:

 

  • 0-2 years directly-related experience with preferred Associate's degree. (In lieu of preferred related Associate's degree, may substitute High School diploma/GED and 2+ years of directly related experience that demonstrates knowledge of relevant fundamental theories, principles and concepts.)

 

Highly preferred candidates will also possess:

  • Knowledge of the NRC’s Unescorted Access Authorization (UAA), Unescorted Access, and Fitness for Duty Programs (AA/FFD).
  • Knowledge of the Corrective Action Program.
  • Demonstrated skill in managing multiple tasks and responsibilities.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Exceptional attention detail
  • Ability to review and interpret regulations and guidelines effectively.
  • Ability to apply knowledge in making unescorted access authorization decisions.
  • Ability to work independently
  • Proven track record of reliability and accountability
  • Ability to communicate effectively and speak up when identifying issues or concerns
  • Ability to interact with supplemental personnel, other utility personnel, and all levels of employees.
  • Ability to provide night and weekend support during nuclear outage work.

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: 

 

  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree

 

Preferred Discipline(s): Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Homeland Security
