Job Summary

Dominion Energy South Carolina (DESC) is looking to hire an E&I Technician I, II, III at the Columbia Energy Center located in Gaston, South Carolina. There is one position which will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate's education, experience, knowledge skills, and abilities.

 

This position is responsible for:

  • Assisting in maintaining, installing, troubleshooting, repairing electrical and instrumentation equipment associates with an electric generating station including Programmable logic controllers, VFD's, motors, controllers, Smart field devices, and DCS controls.
  • Participates in the planning and execution of minor and major shutdowns.
  • Provides technical and hands on support during shutdowns.
  • Provides hands on support to resolve instrument and electrical problems as they occur.  
  • Assists with work activities such as preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, and calibrations.
  • Must be able to read and understand wiring diagrams and instrument/electrical schematics.
  • Must understand AC and DC electoral theory to include knowledge of electrical symbols and formulas.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Minimum Requirements (Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications):

E&I Technician I

  • 0-2 years previous work experience in area of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation/controls
     

 E&I Technician II

  • 2+ years previous work experience in area of mechanical, electrical, and Instrumentation/controls
     

E&I Technician III

  • 5+ years previous work experience in area of mechanical, electrical, and Instrumentation/controls.
     

Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities for All Levels:

  • Requires and is subject to overtime and unscheduled callout work after hours, on weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to occasionally work outdoors and during inclement weather, standing for prolonged periods of time and some heavy lifting. 

Education Requirements

Completion of high school or equivalent (i.e., GED) is required.

Associate Degree in Industrial Electrical Maintenance or Instrumentation and Control is preferred.

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

Must have a valid driver's license with a safe driving history.
