Telecommunications Technician

Job Summary

Are you looking for a career with a stable company and a great work schedule?  Dominion Energy has a great opportunity for telecommunications professionals who want to put their skills into action.  This role will provide telecommunications support for a designated area/territory to include moderately complex tasks typically relating to network monitoring, operations, installation, and/or maintenance. An incumbent is assigned specific projects within an individual business unit. Such as Installation and wiring of routers/switches along with coordination with multiple groups for configuration and troubleshooting.

  • Avaya PBX Moves, Adds, and Changes.
  • Mobile Fleet field communication installations including pedestals, mobile radios, and carrier equipment.
  • Effectively identifies and utilizes the proper resources to develop solutions and devise new approaches to problems encountered in work assignments.

Company vehicle provided for business related travel.


Work locations: Fredericksburg, Woodbridge, or Warrenton.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • Working knowledge  of 4-wire data circuits, T-1 circuits, pots lines, Fiber Terminations, 48 volts, 135 DC voltage, OPX, FSX, FXO, E&M tie lines, and data circuits demonstrated by 3-5 years of related experience.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in PBX Moves, Adds & Changes highly preferred.
  • Skilled in the use of T1 transmission test set, BERT test set, error testing, PRI testing, and fiber optic test equipment.
  • Skilled in the use of various cabling and familiarity with color coding requirements for cabling identification, 66m block, 110 block, wire wrapping, Cat 5/6 cabling.
  • Ability to work on programming/installation of Channel Banks/Mux, CoastCom
  • Ability in the use of 2 way radios in mobile vehicles as well as handheld units, and IFR Radio test equipment.
  • Must be safety conscious and detailed oriented.

The company is actively seeking United States military veterans and service members who meet the qualifications outlined above.

  • Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined above.

Education Requirements

Associate degree and 3 years of related work experience or High School diploma or G.E.D. and 5 years of related work experience.
