Job Summary

The Measurement, Controls and Communications (MCandC) Technician assist in the maintenance and calibration of regulating and measuring equipment including electronic instrumentation used to monitor gas quality and assist in the maintenance and calibration of analytical instruments and sampling systems. Job responsibilities:

  • Assist in the maintenance and calibration of regulating and measuring equipment such as pneumatic control systems and electronic measurement devices.
  • Assist in the maintenance of the accuracy of gas measurement devices used by customers.
  • Assist in the validation of the accuracy of gas measurement devices used by other companies.
  • Assist in the calibration and maintenance of analytical instruments- Produce calibration reports.
  • While developing in this role, will be expected to become knowledgeable of the operation and maintenance of gas regulating and measurement equipment andelectronics pertaining to gas measurement and monitoring equipment
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

 

  • MC & C Technician I- 0-2 years experience at the MC&C Technician I level or equivalent experience (oil field, gas field, measurement, etc) and/or education.
  • MC & C Technician II- Must have a minimum of three years experience at the MC&C Technician I level or equivalent experience (oil field, gas field, measurement, etc) and/or education. A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications
  • Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of gas chromatograph and other gas quality testing equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of chemistry and electronics.
  • Knowledge of electricity including Ohms Law and use of a multimeter.
  • Knowledge of Dominion Energy Gas distribution system.
  • Knowledge of company emergency plan and safety policies.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use a personal computer and related software that meet department needs.
  • Knowledge of basic math to add, subtract, multiply and divide and to perform the four operations with decimals and fractions.
  • Skill in the use of hand tools.
  • Ability to interact with others, communicate clear instructions and evaluate results.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to understand and complete written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to lift 70 pounds.
  • Ability to see objects at close range and to determine the distance and relationship between objects.
  • Ability to smell to detect odors related to natural gas.
  • Ability to respond to internal and external inquiries in person, e-mail or by telephone.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
