Job Summary

A Pipeline Integrity Construction Projects Coordinator will direct and manage the construction of natural gas and hazardous liquid pipeline integrity and engineering projects by providing technical and field support to ensure completion of the projects in a timely, safe, and efficient manner.   Will serve as the Pipeline Integrity Department on-site leadership representative, providing project direction and oversight during completion of construction and assessment work.  The position also requires performing and documenting the results of tests, repairs and maintenance related to integrity and corrosion excavations. Inspects and tests facilities and equipment to identify existing and potential anomaly problems. Recommends course of action to eliminate or repair pipeline anomalies. Oversees and supervises capital and maintenance pipeline repair and replacement projects.  Manages and coordinates in-line inspection (ILI) and maintenance cleaning pigging assessments.  Maintains interactive work relationship with Specialists, Engineers, Operations, Right of Ways Department, Environmental Personnel, Safety Department Personnel, and Gas Control to accurately and effectively complete job responsibilities. Directs, qualifies, and supports contractors to safely complete evaluations, repairs, replacements and reports. Keeps necessary certifications, qualifications, and calibrations up to date.  Works with the corrosion section to install and inspects cathodic protection (CP) equipment. Repairs, replaces and services corrosion equipment components. Identifies possible outside currents negatively affecting company operations and initiates corrective steps through. 

Day-to-day responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Collect data used for the evaluation and monitoring of the pipeline corrosion integrity plan
  2. Interpret maps, plans and alignment drawings to locate pipeline facilities.
  3. Recognize pipeline anomalies (pitting, dent, ovalities, buckling, Selective Seam Corrosion, Stress Corrosion Cracking, etc.).
  4. Recognize problems “in the ditch” and be able to collect the data necessary for further engineering evaluations.
  5. Recommend solutions for resolving technical pipeline issues “in the ditch.”
  6. Evaluate a pipeline in-service using direct assessment (DA) methods and techniques.
  7. Provide guidance to Operating Areas with ILI/DA/CP record keeping and mapping requirements, and partner to resolve problems.
  8. Aid ILI/ close interval survey (CIS) data integration efforts
  9. Participate in PHMSA inspections and audits as required.
  10. Lead the data collection, collation and evaluation phase of DA activities. Coordinate excavation data collection. Participate in the compilation of reports that describe the results of a project.
  11. Supervise (field and office) evaluation of pipelines based on ILI/DA/CP /corrosion/defect information, and develop reports on the findings, conclusions and rehabilitation recommendations.
  12. Assist with developing the scope of field services, coordinating and overseeing field services with subcontractors, integration and analysis of data, as well as report preparation and presentation to internal customer.
  13. Prudently manage project budgets and timelines.
  14. Provide accurate project estimates, establish and maintain project objectives, schedules milestones and budgets.
  15. Monitors and evaluates contractor performance.
  16. Supervises project time and expenses to maintain and approve accurate invoice submittals.
  17. Ensures work is completed in accordance with contracts, procedures and regulations.
  18. Manage and direct construction inspectors, consultants, and internal personnel.  

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Required:

  1. 7+ years of directly related experience
  2. Three or more years of experience in Pipeline Corrosion – inspection, prevention, design, corrosion control or construction.
  3. Minimum of three years of experience overseeing field work.

 

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Experience safely supervising and overseeing field aspects of pipeline projects particularly with DETI.
  2. A detailed focus on personal, colleague, and contractor Safety
  3. Understanding Direct Assessment evaluations
  4. Understanding of ILI assessments and maintenance cleaning pig run requirements.
  5. Understanding of pipeline corrosion assessment field techniques
  6. Corrosion basic principles and theory used in field techniques, DA, ILI and hydro testing techniques, indirect inspections, direct examination, safety and data documentation.
  7. Corrosion CIS experience.
  8. Pipeline excavation project experience.
  9. Pipeline coatings application and inspection experience.
  10. Pipeline repair and replacement project experience.
  11. Ability to communicate effectively and develop rapport. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
  12. Ability to plan and organize work schedule independently.
  13. Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to operate a company vehicle. Safety sensitive position.

Education Requirements

Education Level: Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Associate , Disciplines: Preferred: Engineering Technology

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

Preferred:

  1. NACE/SSPC/KTA Coatings Inspection Certifications.
  2. Formal education in corrosion control from the AUCSC or National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE).
  3. ASNT UT and NDE Training.
  4. Weld Inspection - AWS CPWI certification
