Job Summary

Birdseye Renewable Energy (“BRE”) is a wholly owned affiliate of Dominion Generation, Inc. based in Charlotte, NC.  BRE has twin priorities.  First, BRE leads utility scale solar and storage development of contracted assets with key C&I and utility customers in select markets within the broad geography of “Eastern US” for ownership by Dominion Generation.  Second, BRE supports the development of solar (and battery storage) assets in the Commonwealth of Virginia in furtherance of the Virginia Clean Economy Act.

Birdseye Renewables is looking for an Engineer II or Engineer III to work with interconnections. The Engineer will manage transmission and interconnection rights, and queue applications, for multiple simultaneous Solar PV projects through entire process,  provide monthly updates with summaries of interconnection issues, funding timelines, and offramps, support negotiation of interconnection agreements and coordinate with in-house and outside counsel,  Support IA milestones, Authorizations to Proceed, and ensure project compliance with the IA throughout implementation process,  coordinate, review and provide technical insight throughout feasibility, system impact, steady state, short-circuit, stability and facilities studies, research, track and verify progress of transmission service through OASIS and other utility services for pipeline projects, acquisition opportunities, and competing requests, collaborate with and provide updates to the development team on queues in order to effectively strategize and coordinate with overall project progress, lead the preparation of interconnection application packages,  support M&A activities through interconnection and transmission due diligence.  This role is fully competent to expert level in Engineering series.  Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experiences required for entry into this job include the following:  

Engineer II - 3+  years of relevant experience,  

Engineer III - 5+ years of relevant experience.  

At least 3 years of experience PowerPoint /Microsoft Office Suite / Photoshop/ArcGIS experience.

Some experience with solar interconnection and/or power flow models preferred.
Demonstrated experience in project management and in the project area
Demonstrated skill and ability to influence and interact with others, often external to the organization, to achieve desired results
Ability to represent the project and the company in public forums
Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral are required
Ability to manage multiple priorities
Knowledge and application of engineering theories and principles, concepts, and fundamentals;
Competency in applying engineering principles, fundamental concepts, practices and procedures requiring some evaluation, originality and/or ingenuity to achieve project objectives;
Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems;
Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices;

Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or more rounds to one full year of qualifications.

For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series, the following criteria must be met: Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an ABET accredited engineering program based on the year that the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or Possess a 4-year engineering degree from a non-ABET accredited program and a postgraduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or Possess a 4-year degree in Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.

Depending on functional responsibilities and location of position must review ANS 3.1 12/79, ANSI N18.1-1971 or ANSI/ANS 3.1-1993 and DOM-QA-1 as appropriate.
