Job Summary

 

The Strategic Sourcing Supervisor position is responsible for the following: 

 

  • providing staff and workflow management;
  • overseeing various sourcing initiatives covering a broad spectrum of activities beginning with when a user determines a need for material or services and follows the purchase through its life cycle;
  • strategizes to coordinate efforts across management levels, business units, and functions rather than just buyer/seller interaction are important;
  • managing staff, workflow and assignments, performance evaluations and reporting to upper management;
  • coordinating with internal and external customers, including suppliers, to address sourcing needs.

 

Activities may include:

 

  • analyzing and understanding company spending;
  • assessing and mitigating contractual risk elements;
  • monitoring market conditions, assisting internal customers with development of scope of work;
  • evaluating supplier proposals, understanding the needs of the customer and company in order to negotiate contracts effectively;
  • developing positive relationships with internal and external customers, developing and maintaining an effective supplier base, and understanding legal documents and contracts.

 

In addition this position will prepare requests for proposals, purchase orders and other contracts, spreadsheets, e-mails, and other written communications and documentation and will maintain files and records as needed. This position requires some travel, mostly within the service area of South Carolina.

The position requires flexibility, initiative, and the willingness to learn new things.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

 

BS or BA degree in a business or related discipline with 5 – 7 years of experience is required.
 

Other requirements include:

 

  • demonstrated leadership skills to include mentorship, functional teams, etc.;
  • experience in sourcing and/or procurement at the highest level with demonstrated experience with RFP processes and project driven strategic sourcing;            
  • knowledge of procurement/sourcing practices, principles, and ethical practices;
  • ability to take complex information and explain it to all levels of the organization in easy to understand terminology;
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office products to include Excel;
  • ability to evaluate situations and offer flexible solutions, coordinate numerous tasks, interact with a broad range of individuals, and work within a team environment;
  • experience in the utility industry is a plus.
