Job Summary
There are three positions which will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidates education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities.
Dominion Energy’s GIS IT group is looking for a Software Systems Engineer or Senior Software Systems Engineer to join their team. These positions will be responsible for providing feasibility studies, systems analysis documents, QA walkthroughs and project estimates. The incumbents must be able to design complete solutions for new enterprise applications and provide improvements for existing solutions. These roles work with multiple business units, in multi-platform environments, on multi-project assignments. These positions require strong analytical, communication, coordination, planning and organizational skills. Positions will be available which will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Responding to system failures and performance events, take appropriate steps to reduce system downtime.
- Planning and overseeing the implementations of releases
- Formulating or defining system scope and objectives, based on user needs
- Devising or modifying procedures to solve complex problems, considering computer capacity and limitations, operating time, and desired results
- Guiding and advising less experienced Software Systems Engineers
- Troubleshoot, debug and maintain (patch) web applications, services and batch scripts (Python and/or .Net)
- Perform other duties as requested or assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
Software Systems Engineer:
3+ years of related IT or GIS IT experience (Note: A Master's degree will count as one year of experience. A partial year of six months or more will be rounded up to one year)
Senior Software Systems Engineer:
5+ Years of related IT or GIS IT experience (Note: A Master's degree will count as one year of experience. A partial year of six months or more will be rounded up to one year)
Additional Skills Desired (both levels):
Configuration of Windows Server (2012, 2016, 2019)
Web server (IIS) and application configuration
Esri ArcGIS Enterprise Platform Deployment, Administration, Monitoring, and Optimization
Schneider Electric’s ArcFM product suite
Server load balancing for scaling for performance optimization, resiliency and high availability
Related enterprise services, including networking, security, virtualization
Enterprise DBMS - Oracle and/or SQL Server
Configuring and optimizing ArcGIS PRO, APR, Utility Network
Esri Utility Network and associated data models and tools
Configuring, publishing, and managing Map/Feature/Geoprocessing Services
Configuring and optimizing ArcSDE (10.x and beyond), versioning and replicas, ArcFM Geodatabase Manager and ArcFM Process Framework
Python 2.7 or 3, with exposure to python libraries such as ArcPy, Flask, and SqlAlchemy
ETL platforms such as FME and development of scripts/workbenches
Full software development lifecycle, from interpreting requirements, developing solution designs, implementation, testing, deployment techniques, and production support.
C#.Net, VB.Net with exposure to ArcObjects API
Javascript, with exposure to JQuery, DoJo, Esri Javascript API, and Boostrap.css
Relational data modelling and SQL
Education Requirements
Education Level: Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Bachelor
