Senior Software Systems Engineer

Job Summary

This position is responsible for managing multiple technical projects relating to IT infrastructure including managing projects from design to implementation & keep abreast of industry trends/practices. provides direction to IT support function including overseeing support activities or plans organizes security functions ensuring data systems are protected from unauthorized users or response/diagnoses IT product/service problems and resolves issues or works on infrastructure integration projects. Plans/directs large complex technical projects or conversational by determining personnel/resource requirements, schedules, assessing impact on other system and coordinating implementation with other areas. Or works on firewall theory. Configurations, or acts as project manager in planning/directing multiple projects from testing, staging to production environments.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of related experience 
  • Note: A partial year of related experience of 6 months or greater will count as a full year towards the qualifications. 

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Possesses and applies thorough knowledge in primary infrastructure analysis .
  • Experience with: Microsoft Windows Server; Linux Redhat; Microsoft Systems Center Configuration Manager; VMWare ESXi; VMWare VCenter; Solarwinds Orion
  • State of the art knowledge or technologies, processes and practices
  • Recognized Subject Matter Expert/Point of Authority
  • Must have thorough communication skills including in person, by phone and in writing;must have thorough grasp of sound infrastructure analysis principles and skills
  • Must have thorough interpersonal skills and be able to communicate the principles to all levels of the organization
  • Must be able to work independently and as a team
  • Must have thorough analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Must have computer knowledge and skills including Microsoft office products and software/hardware assigned specific to projects
  • Must have strong project management, time management and organizational skills
  • Must have strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills
  • Ability to assess problems and develop/implement creative sound solutions with little or no precedent
  • Ability to understand client requirements and how the translate in application features
  • Collaborate with a team of IT professionals to set specifications for new applications
  • Design creative prototypes according to specifications
  • Troubleshoot and debug applications
  • Evaluate existing applications to reprogram, update and add new features
  • Develop technical documents and handbooks to accurately represent application design and code
  • Proven experience as application developer
  • Experience in designing and buidling applications
  • Ability to program in at least one programming language such as C#, Java (J2EE) etc.
  • In depth knowledge of programming for diverse operating systems and platforms using development tools
  • Excellent understanding of software design and programming principles
  • Military service members and veterans with ranks from E5-E9, W1-CW5, or O3-O6, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined above

Education Level: Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Bachelor , Other Education: Business, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline.
