Senior Electric Transmission System Control Analyst (Archer System)

Job Summary

Support the solar interconnection process and help incorporate solar facilities in daily operations, which may include defining and/or redefining calculations and displays in Energy Accounting, modifying specific applications, and/or archiving new data. Serve as the Energy Management System UCS server administrator to maintain integrity of computer systems. Provide technical support and maintenance for the SDX and OASIS interfaces and associated certificates. May serve as the CIP SME consultant for the EMS Symmetricom Time-Frequency Systems at both the TOC and JIC facilities. Serve as SME and contact for ICCP/EIDSN/ISN/NERCNet. Function as point of contact between the EMS group and the Distribution SCADA group. Perform cleanup, maintenance, and creation of single line graphical displays. Provide monthly or mandated reports to requested departments and other external record-keepers. Maintain correct technological address (TAs) for links on displays, and the correct calculation for specific display values. Verify EA hourly data on a regular basis so that displays and reports are accurate and correspond with nightly checkouts by the System Controllers and monthly checkouts by the Operations Planning department. Maintain accuracy of HISDUMP data files for storage in the EA data repository. Make necessary modifications to EA displays, computer applications, reports, data files and other features that will be affected by new generators, tie lines, and Solar projects. Provide support, assistance, assistance advice for the Archer system.  Serve as subject matter expert.  Customize the software as needed to suit customer needs. Identifies opportunities for strengthening compliance controls of Archer system.  Assist other teams in maintaining CIP compliance through the proper use of the Archer system.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experiences that are required for entry into this job include the following:

  • 5-6+ years of experience in programming or systems analysis. Ability to participate effectively in interpersonal exchange and understanding. Demonstrated ability to seek out and understand customers' issues. Conceptual thinking and reasoning abilities.
  • Demonstrated competency in logical and analytical thinking. Experience in adapting to and applying rapidly-changing technology to business needs. Demonstrated ability to perform as technical expert in field.
  • Ability to work independently. Demonstrated skills in leading small teams.
  • Demonstrated organization and planning skills, including time management, project coordination, and project management. Demonstrates excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem solving skills, with a questioning attitude. Demonstrated competency in verbal and written communication, with good presentation skills.
  • An in-depth experience in security aspects of multiple platforms, operating systems, and software, communications, and network protocols is strongly desired.
  • Highly motivated, with the ability to work effectively under minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, and problem solving skills, to include time management, project coordination, and project management. Must be team-oriented, placing priority on quality and the successful completion of team goals
  • Demonstrated competency in developing effective solutions to business problems, with the ability to understand customer’s business needs, analyze problems and make decisions.
  • Demonstrated leadership of work teams or groups, with the ability to work with all levels of employees.
  • Ability to handle multiple deadlines and associated pressures, is a self-starter, and to work independently

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:

          Bachelor

Preferred:

          Computer Engineering

          Computer Science

          Information Systems
