Job Summary

Dominion Energy South Carolina (DESC) seeks a NERC Compliance Specialist to join the ERO Compliance Team in Cayce, South Carolina. This is a highly visible position that has the opportunity to interact with compliance stakeholders (subject matter experts, managers, and senior leadership) across the organization, including: Electric Transmission, Power Generation, Power Delivery, IT, Physical Security, and others. The NERC Compliance Specialist performs essential work to ensure DESC’s electric grid remains reliable, secure, and compliant. Primary job responsibilities are bulleted below.

 

The selected candidate will be assigned to the NERC Operations and Planning (O&P) or Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) standards, depending upon their unique background and experience. Additionally, this position will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. 
 

Job Responsibilities:

•    Leads internal audits to evaluate DESC’s compliance with NERC Reliability Standards. This includes testing internal controls to ensure electric grid risks are appropriately identified and managed.

•    Manages potential non-compliance issues per DESC’s internal compliance investigation and reporting processes.

•    Coordinates various regulatory submittals including self-reports, reliability data, and other data requests.

•    Facilitates SERC audit preparation and execution activities.

•    Tracks proposed changes to NERC standards and coordinates with subject matter experts to develop comments and voting positions.

•    Analyzes and informs compliance stakeholders of approved changes to NERC Standards. Coordinates the development of implementation plans and provides implementation oversight.

•    Leverages strong interpersonal communication skills and compliance expertise to support NERC  compliance stakeholders within the company. This includes developing and delivering various updates and presentations.

•    Participates in the North American Transmission Forum (NATF) activities and attends applicable regulatory conferences and webinars. 

•    Helps administer the ERO compliance program, compliance management tools, and compliance training. Performs other duties as assigned.
 

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experiences that are required for entry into this job include the following: 

Associate NERC Specialist
No prior experience required.

NERC Specialist 
3+ years combination of electric utility or compliance related experience in a regulated environment. 

Senior NERC Specialist 
5+ years combination of electric utility or compliance related experience in a regulated environment. 

 

All Positions:
•    Strong attention to detail.
•    Must have excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
•    Must have basic computer knowledge and skills including Microsoft Office Suite of products.
•    Must have strong analytical, organization, and administration skills.
•    Must be self-motivated; highly proficient at multitasking and prioritizing tasks; work independently; be positive and flexible in a changing environment; and work well with others.

Additional preferred skills include: 
•    Technical Writing
•    Experience with RSA Archer, SharePoint, and FileNet

Education Requirements

Degree: Bachelor

Preferred Disciplines:

Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Cyber Security or other similar discipline
