Job Summary

This position will be in the Dominion Privatization Texas group at Ft, South Carolina group at Fort Jackson or any other applicable privatization Fort. Duties include the following:
 

Project Management

-Manages total project scope of designs from conception to final completion; manages overall project budget and schedule.

-Accountable for project success, customer satisfaction and technical project execution and delivery.

-Creates internal project costs for program budgetary input and planning.

-Manages material procurement and reservations for all designed jobs and after action review processes.

 

Design / Technical Work

-Independently performs design evaluations, calculations, and analysis to support the requirements of the design projects.

-Accomplishes the most complex work including, but not limited to, Network design, complex commercial work, major electric and natural gas distribution relocations and substation get-a-ways.

-Analyzes electrical and natural gas (if applicable) load data and performs calculations to determine size and location of distribution facilities based on engineering standards.

-Performs technical evaluations of projects and root cause analysis to recommend corrective actions based on current design audit guidelines.

-Develops timely, complete and accurate sets of drawings for proposed, expanded or modified facilities and office layouts -Inputs design jobs into SAP.

-Facilitates or provides the determination of material, time and cost estimates for the construction, maintenance and relocation of electric and natural gas distribution facilities.

-Conducts field assessment of electrical and gas infrastructure for resource allocation and facilities logistics for storm and outage response.


Coordinator Role

-Provides direction to designer and contractor personnel.

-Responsible for coordination and communication of commissioning activities, engineering processes and troubleshooting in the field.

-Prepares correspondence and interfaces with customers and designers on a regional and system level regarding technical or design issues.

-Works with government review board on designs and construction plans.

-Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and education required for entry into this job include the following:

-Requires 6+ years directly related work experience (in addition to Bachelor's degree or its equivalence).

-Requires successful completion of the Customer Projects Designer Development Program.

-Advanced knowledge, skill and/or abilities that provide subject matter expertise in all aspects of distribution design.

-Fully competent in all aspects of the design rules and regulations supporting the electric distribution design organization.

-Ability to apply knowledge and technical skills to provide project management, design and direction to designers, craft and contractor personnel.

-Ability to handle the most complex work and all other aspects of the job, using a wide knowledge of the field and mastery of the subject matter, equipment and design programs.

-In depth knowledge of distribution facilities and design requirements; In depth knowledge of design codes, NESC regulations and company policies and practices; In depth knowledge of design and an expert knowledge of design applications (ArcFM, WMIS, Gateway, and AutoCAD), extensive background in vault and duct bank applications, along with working knowledge of the distributed automation process and other complex design standards.

-Equally effective at working independently or in a team environment.

-Strong oral and written communication skills to include skill in facilitating customer communications during construction to ensure efficiency.

-Working knowledge in the operation and application of personal computers and software programs (SAP); Excellent organizational and project management skills.

-Skill in evaluation of design techniques.

-Ability to perform root cause analysis to determine the most probable cause of design issues, audit failures and undesired events.

-Strong analytical, abstract thinking and problem-solving skills; ability to process information quickly.

-Physical attributes to perform essential functions including walking, climbing, stooping, bending and prolonged standing.
