Job Summary

Dominion Energy seeks a highly motivated Operator Trainee.  Clover Power Station is a coal fired power station located in Clover Virginia. With a generating capacity of 865 MW, the station provides electricity to power about 285,000 homes. The successful candidate will monitor and ensure the safe and environmentally compliant operation of equipment used in the production of electricity.

As an entry level Operator Trainee, the selected applicant will be required to complete a 39-month developmental training program comprised of on-the-job training, classroom, computer based and self-study learning, oral and written tests. 
This position is represented by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local Union 50 

Duties include:

  • Inspect, operate and monitor equipment used in the production of electricity
  • Perform daily routine operations
  • Perform Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) of equipment for maintenance and valve operations
  • Perform preventative maintenance and inspections
  • Make entries into computer-based logbooks
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of systems
  • Perform and maintain station housekeeping
     

The Operator Trainee works a 12-hour rotating shift, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Starting pay is $29.14 per hour. This position does not offer relocation at this time.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • 0-2 years related work experience in an industrial or plant environment.  Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to lift up-to 50 pounds
  • This job requires successful completion of the EEI Plant Operators Selection System (POSS) aptitude test, administered on site during the pre-employment process
  • Monitor and ensure the safe and environmentally compliant operation of equipment used in the production of electricity
  • Able to work indoors or outdoors in inclement weather and in hot/cold, noisy, dusty environment, and able to work at heights with open grating floors
  • Safely perform daily routine operations
  • Perform Lock Out Tag Out of equipment for maintenance and valve operations
  • Safely perform preventative maintenance and inspections
  • Make entries into computer-based logbooks
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of systems.

Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or more rounds to one full year of qualifications.
