Job Summary
Dominion Energy Power Generation seeks a highly motivated Instrument Technician I, II, or III at Clover Power Station. There is one position available that will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Clover Power Station is a coal fired power station located in Clover, Virginia. With a generating capacity of 865 MW, the station provides electricity to power about 285,000 homes.
Under general supervision, this role performs a full range of inspection, testing, service, repair, calibration, and install indicating, recording, and automatic control instruments such as flow meters, pressure gauges, thermometers, regulators, and similar components in a power station. Locate cause of defective performance of instruments, report findings to supervisor, and replace component parts as required. Use portable pressure gauges, manometer, and other similar test equipment. Perform preventive maintenance. Test flue gas, read meters, and record data as required. Perform tuning tasks on single loop controls. Maintain and perform necessary changes to drawings related to instrumentation. Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
Instrument Technician I: 0-2 years relevant experience in mechanical electrical, and instrumentation work.
Instrument Technician II: 2 + years of relevant experience in instrumentation and controls work.
Instrument Technician III: 5 + years of relevant experience in instrumentation and controls work
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot various components.
• Ability to utilize configuration drawings.
• Valid Driver's license.
• Full abilities to perform preventive maintenance activities, reading meters, and recording data as required.
• Ability to understand and apply skills in the use of portable pressure, flow, temperature, and other similar test equipment.
• Detail-oriented.
• Safety-oriented.
• Focused on Regulatory Compliance.
• Effective problem identification and problem resolution skills.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint); SAP experience is a plus.
• Ability to troubleshoot various complex components.
• Ability to work effectively on one's own or in a team environment.
• Ability to maintain drawings and configuration documentation as related to instrumentation.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. of equipment and/or materials.
• Must have the physical ability to carry a minimum of 50 pounds of tooling, test equipment, and plant equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Fossil power station instrumentation and controls experience.
• Experience maintaining and troubleshooting Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS).
• Start-up/operational support experience for fossil power plants.
• Experience with Emerson Ovation.
• Control system upgrade experience.
• PLC experience (including ladder logic programming).
• Availability and flexibility to work overtime as needed, including days, nights, and weekends
Education Requirements
Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Associate
Discipline Preferres: Technical
