Job Summary

Dominion Energy Virginia seeks an Engineer / Engineering Technical Specialist for the Clover, Virginia power station. This role includes supporting Safety, Environmental, Operations, Welding, Electrical, Technical, and Chemistry teams. Responsibilities involve equipment inspections, quality control, operational support, engineering calculations, analysis, research, and design. The candidate will work under supervision to develop engineering knowledge, demonstrate leadership, and ensure smooth operations. They will evaluate, select, adapt, and modify standard engineering techniques and coordinate projects to meet cost and time objectives.

 

In addition to the primary duties, the Engineer / Engineering Technical Specialist will be expected to collaborate with team members across various departments to foster a culture of continuous improvement. This could include conducting training sessions, mentoring junior staff, and participating in cross-functional meetings to share best practices and innovative solutions.

Engineer - Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Associate Engineer:   
•    0-2+ years of engineering experience
•    Basic knowledge of engineering concepts, fundamentals, and theory
•    Analytical and abstract thinking skills
•    Problem-solving skills
•    Ability to learn and apply engineering theories and concepts to complex problems
•    Ability to develop effective planning, project, and organizational skills
•    Ability to develop project management skills and handle multiple tasks

Engineer:
•    2+ years of relevant engineering experience
•    Knowledge and application of engineering theories, principles, concepts, and fundamentals
•    Developmental experience in a professional engineering position
•    Competency in applying engineering principles, fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures
•    Understanding and application of configuration management
•    Planning, organizational, and project management skills
•    Ability to develop and exercise leadership skills

Senior Engineer:
•    5+ years of relevant engineering experience
•    Full knowledge of engineering theories and principles
•    Skilled in advanced techniques and modification of theories, precepts, and practices
•    Strong leadership skills with proven ability to serve as team project lead
•    Strong personal computer skills
•    In-depth knowledge of various computer applications, with the ability to perform engineering calculations using applicable software programs
•    Strong planning, organizational, and project management skills

Staff Engineer:
•    8+ years of relevant engineering experience
•    Extensive knowledge of engineering theories, principles, and practices
•    Skilled in advanced techniques and modification of theories, precepts, and practices
•    Full knowledge of business/financial and contractual matters
•    Recognized expert by other engineers and management in assigned area
•    Provides expert technical advice to other engineers and management
•    Strong planning and project management skills
•    Strong technical and organizational leadership skills

All Levels Require:

•    Ability to interpret codes, regulations, and practices
•    Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems

Engineering Technical Specialist - Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Engineering Technical Specialist I:
•    0-2 years of relevant experience
•    Basic knowledge of engineering principles, theories, and practices
•    Ability to learn and successfully apply basic knowledge, techniques, skills, and modern tools
•    Good oral, written, and graphical communication skills
•    Ability to learn and conduct standard tests, measurements, and experiments
•    Ability to function as a member of a technical team
•    Basic knowledge of computers, keyboarding skills, and the use of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
•    Demonstrates questioning attitude, problem-solving, analytical, and abstract thinking skills

 

Engineering Technical Specialist II:
•    2+ years of relevant experience
•    Demonstrated competencies in applicable discipline
•    Effective oral, written, and graphical communication skills
•    Ability to identify and use appropriate technical literature
•    Ability to analyze and interpret results to improve processes
•    Proficient personal computer skills


Engineering Technical Specialist III:
•    5-6+ years of relevant experience
•    In-depth knowledge of engineering principles, theories, and practices
•    Strong oral, written, and graphical communication skills
•    Ability to identify and use appropriate technical literature
•    Ability to analyze and interpret results to improve processes
•    Excellent organization and project management skills
•    Excellent personal computer skills

Education Requirements

Engineer Education: Bachelor's in Engineering required.
 

•    Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program based on the year that the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
•    Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own Engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or
•    Possess a 4-year degree in Engineering (non-ABET accredited), Physics, Chemistry, Math, or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate Engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same Engineering discipline is ABET-accredited based on the year the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
•    Hold or have previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.)
 

Engineering Technical Specialist Education: Preferred Bachelor’s Degree 

•    Possess a 4-year Engineering Technology degree or 4-year degree in Engineering (not ABET-accredited), or
•    Possess a 4-year degree in Physics, Math, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Engineering, or other technical related discipline, or
•    Possess a 4-year non-technical degree and a post-graduate degree in Engineering Technology or Engineering (not ABET-accredited), or
•    Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the preferred degree.
