Manager - Fleet Maintenance (Gas Distribution Technical Services)

Job Summary

This position manages the fleet maintenance workforce and program over a multi-state region for all Dominion business units. Directs and monitors fleet maintenance resources including labor, vehicles, equipment, and material to ensure cost effective work planning and resource utilization, safe work practices and an accident-free work environment, quality workmanship, and fleet maintenance within scheduled target dates. Assures safe operations for all maintenance activities including all vehicle related state, federal DOT, OSHA and ANSI regulations. Manages resources for economy, quality, and reliability of vehicles/equipment, as well as assist the field with service restoration efforts during major outage events. Manages and provides input to developing fleet standards and policies, Advises and assists in technical training and development of employees. Applies labor contract and Human Resources policies to address employee and labor relations issues.

 

Manages effective relationships with local Construction and Operations managers, and user-experience related to internal business partners.  Successful candidate will oversee approximately 4,500 vehicles/equipment primarily located across four (4) states, developing team in support of ensuring full fleet is kept up to date and appropriately ready for deployment at internal partner’s request.

 

The position will be located in Cleveland, Ohio. Relocation assistance can be provided to the successful candidate if eligible.

 

Additional responsibilities may include:

  •  Responsibility for fleet technician engagement and all facets of Fleet Operations (i.e. vehicle maintenance schedules, vendor management, safety, environmental compliance, & budget management); manage Fleet staff performance.
  • Providing timely updates on vehicle maintenance, compliance, and registration.
  • Managing the coordination and scheduling of maintenance/repairs to ensure reliability of the fleet.
  • Developing technical and non-technical skillsets of Fleet technicians.
  • Providing direction and insight related to potential fleet purchases and vehicle make/model recommendations to proactively grow company fleet.
  • Managing all regulatory compliance
  • Building and sustaining strong business relationships with vendors implementing appropriate quality control standards, to ensure timeline and budget parameters are satisfied.
  • Evaluating fleet business-model – as necessary recommending redesign of service/support provided to internal partners.
  • Overseeing periodic review of Fleet policy documents to ensure alignment with changing business/regulatory landscape.
  • Direct Reports: Nine (9) staff including eight (8) Supervisors and an Analyst
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Minimum Qualifications (Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications):

  • Master's degree with 7+ years directly related experience OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree with 8+ years directly related experience OR
  • Associates Degree with 10+ years of directly related experience OR
  • High school diploma or GED with 12+ years of directly related experience

 

Directly Related Experience includes: Field Service Operations, utility maintenance/operations, Facilities, Transportation, Warehousing, and/or Logistics Planning experience.

 

In addition to the above,

  • Previous supervisory/project lead experience is also required.

 

Military Experience:

  • The company is actively seeking United States military veterans and service members who meet the qualifications outlined above.
  • Military Service Members/Veterans ranks from E7-E9, W1-CW5, or O3-O6; 8+ years directly related experience

 

Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Skills: Leadership; interpersonal; decision making; effective verbal and written communication; ; scheduling/time management; budget management; computer skills (strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite);problem solving
  • Abilities: adaptability; deal effectively with internal customers; make effective decisions; physical attributes to perform essential functions - walking, climbing, stooping, bending and prolonged standing.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5+ years supervisory/project lead experience
  • 3+ years project management experience
  • CMMS or Fleet maintenance/management experience—working knowledge of fleet administrative tasks (i.e. asset-transfer, scheduling, budget management, etc.)
  • NAFA/CMMS/CAFM certifications
  • Knowledge of associated regulatory compliance at Federal, State, and local levels (DOT, OSHA, etc.)
  • Prior leadership experience with labor union employees including union contract negotiations.
  • Experience with natural gas utility vehicles/equipment; CNG equipment – including conversion and compression facilities.

Education Level: Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Bachelor
