Job Summary

Location: This position will be assigned to work at various locations across Dominion Energy Ohio’s service area requiring travel to those different locations during the internship.  The primary locations include but are not limited to (Cleveland and suburbs, Akron, Canton, and Youngstown area.)


If you are looking for a career opportunity with one of the top energy providers in Ohio  then Dominion East Ohio is looking for you.  Join a highly motivated and customer-focused team to learn all aspects of the customer experience through the rotational Commercial Operations Union Internship Program.  You will follow the customer journey from turning on new service in the field, public service through first response on emergencies, customer communications and the revenue cycle from billing to account receivables management.  The successful candidate will be assigned a rotational work schedule spending time in all the various departments that support the customer experience including; Customer Field  & Metering Service, Dispatch Operations & Gas Control, Credit, Billing, Field Support, New Construction and  Business Development along with the various support teams. The candidate will ride with our field technicians and spend time with various Customer Service Professionals, Business Analysts and other key contributors in Cleveland and Akron. The successful candidate will learn how the gas distribution team supports a safe and inclusive work environment for its employees and delivers safe and reliable service customers while contributing to the overall success of DEO.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience


  1. Be a minimum of 18 years of age or older
  2. Must have a valid driver’s license and may be required to use a company and/or personal vehicle for Company business.
  3. Enrolled in a vocational,  technical or business training program or related discipline with intent to obtain diploma or GED; or enrolled in a 2-year or 4-year degree program
  4. Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions as well as office environments
  5. Ability to pass pre-employment tests
  6. Must participate or attend Operator Qualification (OQ) training and maintain all required Operator Qualifications (OQ) for position if applicable.
  7. Good computer, math and communication skills (written and verbal)
  8. Must have acceptable work (if applicable) and attendance record.



  1. Previous Military experience
  2. GPA of 2.5 or greater
  3. Technical or vocational curriculum
  4. Trades ,Craft or Related Work Experience (e.g., mechanical, electrical, HVAC,accounting, public service)
  5. Good customer service skills
  6. Positive verbal and written communications skills


Working Conditions:

  1. Work is performed in all weather conditions and environments including high traffic urban areas as well as rural off-road areas. Shift work may be necessary between 7 a.m. – 8 p.m.
