Job Summary

Associate Gas Controller:

This role assists in the management of the daily natural gas operations to meet the overall physical requirements of the pipeline system. This role utilizes the Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) system to monitor and control gas facilities by operating remote control valves, regulators and compressors and ensures that pipeline pressures stay within Maximum Allowable Operating Pressures (MAOP). Analyzes transmission pipeline system and recommends operational changes in anticipation of changing requirements. Analyzes gas control data and responds to SCADA alarms. Adjust gas volumes and pressures to meet market requirements by considering forecasts and supply portfolios and storage plans. Assist in the implementation of the daily operating plan to support the economic, efficient, and reliable operations of the gas system. Develop a professional working relationship with field personnel, pipeline contacts, and other departments that interact with Gas Control. Comply with all government regulations for Control Room and Alarm Management..

Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Gas Controller:

This role is responsible for the management of the daily natural gas operations to meet the overall physical requirements of the pipeline system. This role utilizes the SCADA system to monitor and control gas facilities by operating remote control valves, regulators and compressors and ensure that pipeline pressures stay within Maximum Allowable Operating Pressures (MAOP). Direct field personnel during pipeline repairs and outages and for the operation of the transmission, production, storage and distribution facilities during normal, abnormal and emergency situations. Respond to SCADA alarms by adjusting pressures and flows as needed and notifying field personnel. Analyze gas control data and independently implements gas volumes and pressures to meet market requirements. Implement the daily operating plan to support the economic, efficient, and reliable operations of the gas system. Coordinates and directs the pipeline pigging operations for pipeline integrity and compliance. Develop a professional working relationship with field personnel, pipeline contacts, and other departments that interact with Gas Control. Coordinate nominations with suppliers and storage partners. Comply with all government regulations for Control Room and Alarm Management by maintaining records of gas control operations.

Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Note:  There is a commute requirement of 90 minutes to the East 55th St facility in Cleveland, OH. This position works a rotating schedule of 12 hour shifts.

There is one position which will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidates education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities.

Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3  plus an appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined (below).

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Associate Gas Controller:

- Associate degree and 0 - 2 years directly related experience or equivalent combination of education/experience.

Directly related experience includes: Combined natural gas, analytical, utility, process operation/control (field, paper, water, chemical, etc.) 

Ability to: Learn and retain knowledge of natural gas safety and emergency plans/procedures; learn and retain knowledge of Control Room Management (CRM) regulations and procedures; learn and retain basic Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) regulations and other regulatory requirements, as needed; analyze and interpret data, detect errors and recommend changes; perform basic math: to add, subtract, multiply and divide and to perform the four operations with like or common decimal fractions; clearly and accurately record data when completing documentation; communicate effectively orally and in writing internally and externally; establish and maintain rapport; see objects at close range and be able to distinguish between colors; manage work and perform varied tasks simultaneously; remain focused and to respond competently under pressure to changing pipeline conditions; work independently and as a team member.

- Basic understanding of Microsoft Office, computer functions, and standard office equipment.

- Must be able to commute to work within 90-minutes.

- Basic knowledge of company operations, pipeline network and facilities (compressor stations, storage pools, production systems, etc.) is preferred.

Gas Controller:

- Associate degree and 3+ years directly related experience or equivalent combination of education/experience.

Directly related experience includes: Combined natural gas, analytical, utility, process operation/control (field, paper, water, chemical, etc.) 

Knowledge of: Pipeline network and facilities (compressor stations, storage pools, production systems, etc.); natural gas safety and emergency plans/procedures; Control Room Management (CRM) regulations and procedures; FERC regulations and other regulatory requirements, as needed.

Ability to: Analyze and interpret data, detect errors and recommend changes; wclearly and accurately record data when completing documentation; utilize station specific knowledge; communicate effectively orally and in writing internally and externally; establish and maintain rapport both internally and externally; see objects at close range and be able to distinguish between colors; manage work and perform varied tasks simultaneously; remain focused and to respond competently under pressure to changing pipeline conditions; detect anomalies and remain calm and focused in emergencies; work independently and as a team member.

- Good understanding of Microsoft Office, computer functions, and standard office equipment.

- Excellent reasoning and problem solving skills.

- Must be able to commute to work within 90-minutes.

- At least one year in Associate Gas Controller role is preferred prior to moving to this level.

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:
