Job Summary

This role is responsible for managing the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of technical training across Dominion Energy Virginia. Manages the training development programs, for both salary and hourly employees. Oversees the development and delivery of safety, emergency response, compliance, and new technology training.  Ensures training adheres to safe work practice, proper work methods, and state and federal regulatory compliance standards and are effectively administered. Works with business unit leadership to identify additional or changing training needs. Provides the interface between business units and other training vendors and sources by managing and brokering training services.  Explores and benchmarks new approaches to deploy training to enhance training quality, reduce costs, and engage learner retention. Responsible for processes that assess trainee performance, qualification, and certifications and ensures training records are accurately maintained through Dominion Energy’s Learning Management System.  Measures and assesses the volume, quality, and overall effectiveness of training programs including staff delivery.  Informs management of training outcomes and ensures that the overall technical training function is effective. Initiate/maintain a review process with peer utility training manages, to discuss best practices and learning opportunities on innovative approaches to delivering training to enhance and maintaining colleague qualifications. 

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following:

8-10+ years of relevant experience.  Knowledge of instructional theory and design and adult learning theory, project management and company policies and procedures, laws and regulations;

Preferably understands the SAT (Systematic Approach to Training) methodology of instruction design;

Working knowledge of Dominion Energy processes and operations;

Demonstrated leadership and coaching, technical writing, excellent presentation building and presenting, effective verbal and written communication;

Represent company at various industry meetings and activities, develop and deliver effective training programs, decision making, support organizational change; provide direction, oversight, and personnel management.

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:

Bachelor

Preferred Disciplines: Business, Education, Marketing, Communication

Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above.
