Job Summary

This position is located in Dominion Energy South Carolina at our Cayce, SC office. There is one position which will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate's education, experience, knowledge skills, and abilities. The incumbent will supervise GIS/AutoCAD Draftsmen, GIS Technicians and GIS Technical Specialists in their creation and maintenance of a connected model that replicates the electric and gas transmission and distribution systems within the GIS platform.  This system is the backbone for Dominion Energy Electric & Gas Operations, including Outage Management, ADMS, Gas Compliance, Integrity Management, Emergency Shutdown, Customer Management, Billing, Maintenance, Switching, Vegetation Management, Distribution System Modeling, Land Base and Rights-of-Way.  This position is responsible for:

 

  • Working with GIS Services team, Engineering, Construction, Operations, Joint-Use, Street Lighting and Graphic Work Design to ensure data timeliness and accuracy. 
  • Lead continuous process improvement of GIS editing and posting via performance audits and exception reporting and development of a vision for the future. 
  • Establish a thorough understanding of the business needs of both internal and external customers relying on timely and accurate asset data. 
  • Manage team, coaching and training them as needed.  
  • Participate in project upgrades and implementations.
  • Assist and provide support during storm preparation and restoration.
  • Interface with GIS Development & Data Analyst team and IT GIS Team to ensure needs of Editing and Drafting are met today and in the future.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

 

  • 5+ years of significant directly related experience. 
  • Understanding of concepts of electric and gas transmission and distribution systems and the assets that make up these systems. 
  • Knowledge of design standards and construction practices. 
  • Knowledge of modern design and GIS systems.
  • Knowledge of Electric and Gas mapping architecture. 
  • Knowledge of work reporting and reconciliation processes. 
  • Effective oral and written communication skills. 
  • Proven decision making, problem solving and team building skills. Strong computer skills. 
  • Ability to lead and motivate staff. 
  • Ability to plan and prioritize work and to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Bachelor

  • Bachelor of Science in GIS Preferred 
  • An associate’s degree and relatable experience will be considered.
