Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Solutions Architect specializing in Azure-based enterprise logical integrations to design, govern, and enable scalable, secure, and loosely coupled integration architectures. This role is responsible for defining Azure‑native integration patterns that enable API‑led connectivity, event‑driven workflows, and cloud‑native orchestration across a complex enterprise application landscape.

The ideal candidate brings deep Azure integration expertise, strong architectural judgement with hands‑on integration expertise and acts as a trusted advisor to application teams, product owners, and platform engineering organizations.

This role can be filled in either Richmond, VA or Cayce, SC.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture & Design

  • Define and evolve Azure-native logical integration patterns, including API‑led, event‑driven, asynchronous messaging, and service‑to‑service communication.
  • Design loosely coupled, highly scalable integration solutions aligned with cloud‑native and hybrid architectures.
  • Establish canonical data models, payload standards, versioning strategies, and contract‑first integration approaches.
  • Ensure integrations meet enterprise non‑functional requirements such as security, resiliency, performance, scalability, and observability.

Platform & Technology Enablement

  • Architect solutions using Azure integration services, including:
    • Azure API Management (APIM) for API publishing, security, throttling, and lifecycle governance
    • Azure Event Grid for event routing and reactive architectures
    • Azure Service Bus for asynchronous messaging and reliable system decoupling
    • Azure Logic Apps for workflow orchestration and integration composition
    • Azure Functions for event‑driven, serverless business logic
  • Guide teams on selecting the right Azure integration pattern and service based on use case and scale.
  • Align logical architecture with Azure landing zones, networking, identity, and security standards.
  • Collaborate with platform and cloud teams to align logical integration designs with physical runtime platforms like Azure & OpenShift/Kubernetes.

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Partner with application, security, infrastructure, and operations teams to deliver end‑to‑end integration solutions.
  • Serve as a consultative architect, mentoring teams on modern integration best practices.
  • Translate business and domain requirements into reusable, enterprise‑scale integration capabilities.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

8+ years of experience in integration architecture, distributed systems, or enterprise solution architecture.

  • Strong expertise in API‑led and event‑driven architectures.
  • Hands‑on experience with Azure API Management (APIM), Azure Event Grid, and Azure Service Bus, Azure Logic Apps, and Azure Functions.
  • Deep understanding of synchronous and asynchronous integration patterns, idempotency, retries, error handling, and resiliency.
  • Experience designing integrations across cloud and hybrid environments.
  • Strong communication with the ability to influence architecture decisions across teams.
  • Experience with DevSecOps, ADO CI/CD pipelines, and integration testing frameworks.
  • Proficiency in one or more languages: C#, Java, Node.js, or Python.
  • Experience working within large‑scale enterprise or regulated environments.

Additional good to have experiences

  • Experience with TIBCO integration platforms (e.g., TIBCO BW, EMS) and migration or modernization efforts.
  • Knowledge of mainframe integration patterns, including message‑based, file‑based, or API‑enabled mainframe access.
