We offer a hybrid work schedule (one week in the office, one week of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.

Job Summary

Dominion Energy’s IT Generation team is seeking a Sr. Systems Analyst with strong analytical and technical skills. Ability to focus attention on details to provide support for DE’s Power Generation, Project Construction, Renewable Natural Gas, and Fuels business areas. Through research and analysis develops new or modifies existing complex information systems. Prepares detailed software specifications from which systems are developed or modified. Mentors less experienced team members on software development best practices. The successful candidate will be assigned part of projects to develop and implement systems, provide support for business projects and software system upgrades, and provide maintenance support of existing systems. The ideal candidate will possess an exceptional understanding of the System Analyst skill set and toolset and have a solid understanding of modern computing technologies. The ability to effectively communicate (written, verbal, presentation) with internal business partners, IT personnel, and external service providers is critical to success in this role. The successful candidate will help to develop new and innovative processes to automate and reduce workload and add value to the business areas we support as well as IT. Additionally, the successful candidate will be expected to lead on projects as needed.

 

Duties include, but are not limited to:
 Act as a consultant to our internal business partners regarding technology and process solutions.
•    Facilitate finding, developing, and implementing viable technology solutions for our business partners by working with teammates, IT groups within the company, external service providers, and business partners.
•    Provide guidance to our internal business partners by knowing what software systems they have in place and determining what those systems may be capable of going forward.
•    Interface with internal business partners, IT groups, and external service providers to implement new systems, modify existing systems, and provide system maintenance support.
•    Facilitate and lead requirements workshops for large and/or complex projects.
•    Functionally deconstruct, analyze, and document our internal business partners’ problems, processes, and needs.
•    Develop system design specifications from business requirements and create test cases using structured methodologies.
•    Effectively lead documentation of requirements, test cases, use cases, and design thinking exercises.
•    Provide written and verbal updates on projects and solutions to IT and business management.
•    Provide support for projects and troubleshooting efforts as assigned.
•    Contribute to development of long-range technology plans and strategies.
•    Ensure IT-managed products and services are aligned with business needs.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

5-6+ years of relevant experience in directly related field.


•    DE experience. Specifically with Power Generation, preferred. 
•    Solid analytical skills and demonstrated skills in analyzing and solving problems and issues of varying complexity and providing detailed documentation regarding issues and resolution.
•    Demonstrated ability to analyze business processes for both ‘as is’ and ‘to be’ states.
•    Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for strengthening business processes and systems proactively.
•    Capability and willingness to learn rapidly, ask questions, and retain the information provided during the process.
•    IT experience in systems analysis, in a large-scale environment, across multiple hardware and software platforms, or business unit experience that includes working closely with IT in the development and implementation of large-scale systems.
•    Experience and understanding of the utility industry, renewable energy, and/or power generation.
•    Previous System Analyst work experience.
•    Strong documentation skills.
•    Experience working with IT groups and service providers to apply technology solutions to businesses.
•    Solid written and verbal communication skills.
•    Demonstrated organization and planning skills that include coordination of assigned projects, planning and scheduling, and time management.
•    Ability to work independently, in a support capacity, or a lead role on critical short-term and long-term projects.
•    Ability to successfully coordinate activities and solutions with team members and teams from multiple areas of the company.
•    Experience and ability to lead process documentation efforts.
•    Ability to manage multiple work efforts simultaneously.

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Bachelor
Disciplines Preferred: Business, Economics, Information Systems, Technology disciplines, Mathematics, Engineering
