Job Summary
Intern, Right of Way / Land Services
The Right of Way / Land Services Intern provides support to the Land Services team by assisting with activities related to securing property rights for the construction, operation, and maintenance of company facilities. This internship offers valuable exposure to real estate, land rights, property research, negotiations, and stakeholder engagement while working alongside experienced Land Agents and Senior Land Agents.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with Land Agents and Senior Land Agents to gain practical knowledge of right-of-way acquisition, land management, and real estate processes.
- Assist in the preparation, review, and administration of agreements such as rights-of-way, leases, easements, grants, and fee-simple purchases.
- Support title research and property investigations to help identify surface and subsurface ownership interests for impacted properties.
- Assist with maintaining communication between landowners and the company, helping to ensure timely and professional interactions.
- Participate in property inspections and gather information from public records and comparable real estate data to support property valuation assessments.
- Assist in preparing and submitting permit, license, including road and railroad crossings.
- Support the documentation and investigation of property damage claims and assist with information gathering related to settlement discussions.
- Learn to interpret land rights, easements, leasehold interests, and related real estate agreements under the guidance of experienced team members.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external legal counsel to support project-related land activities.
- Maintain accurate records, files, and documentation related to land acquisition and project requirements.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
- Currently pursuing a degree in Business, Real Estate, Geography, Environmental Studies, Engineering, Legal Studies, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to conduct research, analyze information, and maintain attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple assignments.
Education Requirements
- Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Business Management, Geography (GIS), Real Estate, Public Relations, Construction Management, Legal, Project Managment, or related degree to surveying
- Must have a GPA of 2.5 or above
- Must have a graduation date of 2028 or 2029

Hourly Rate:
$25.00 - $28.00
The hourly rate listed is the rate we anticipate paying for this position. If a range is listed, the actual hourly rate offered may vary based on factors such as the selected candidate's degree type, academic major, and/or school classification (e.g., sophomore, junior, senior).
