The Electric Transmission Planning team is seeking a motivated Electrical Engineering Intern to join our team in Cayce, South Carolina for Summer 2027. This internship offers hands-on experience supporting the planning, modeling, and operation of Dominion Energy South Carolina's electric transmission system.
Interns will work directly with experienced engineers on projects that support grid reliability, generator interconnections, transmission planning studies, and system modeling initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity to gain practical utility experience while applying engineering concepts learned in the classroom.
Typical Responsibilities
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Maintain and update electric transmission system models and databases
- Assist with preparation of generator interconnection study documentation and reports
- Update transmission system maps and planning cases as needed
- Support engineers performing power flow, contingency, and transmission reliability studies
- Analyze and validate transmission system data and results
- Assist with engineering projects related to system planning, operations, and regulatory compliance
- Prepare technical documentation, presentations, and engineering reports

- Strong computer skills and demonstrated ability to learn engineering software applications and Microsoft Office products
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Coursework in power systems, electric energy systems, or related engineering disciplines
- Experience with Microsoft Excel, data analysis, or programming languages such as Python and VBA
- Interest in electric transmission, power system analysis, or utility operations
Education Requirements
- Must be in process of obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering program at a college or university.
- Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher.
- Must have a graduation date of Fall 2027 to 2029

Hourly Rate:
$27.00 - $29.00
The hourly rate listed is the rate we anticipate paying for this position. If a range is listed, the actual hourly rate offered may vary based on factors such as the selected candidate's degree type, academic major, and/or school classification (e.g., sophomore, junior, senior).
