We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.
Military service members and veterans with ranks from E5-E9, W1-CW5, or O3-O6, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined below will be considered for this opportunity.

Job Summary
This position will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate’s qualifications.
The position has a shared focus for groundwater monitoring and coal combustion residual (CCR) program compliance. Position has responsibility for environmental and regulatory compliance support for Dominion Energy facilities across the company’s footprint working under direction of Supervisor, Groundwater, CCR, and Remediation.
Job duties include:
- Supports regulatory compliance assurance for Dominion Energy’s environmental groundwater monitoring program to include coordinating monitoring well installations, groundwater sampling, laboratory analysis, data validation, and reporting.
- Ensures required groundwater monitoring programs are performed across multiple sites in multiple states in accordance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
- Analyze and evaluate groundwater data to look for trends, anomalies, and opportunities for preventative actions.
- Supports regulatory compliance assurance for Dominion Energy’s CCR program to include coordinating technical report generation, inspections and surveys, operating record and internet site maintenance, and reporting.
- Provide technical assistance to sites/projects for groundwater and CCR compliance.
- Provide interpretation of environmental permits and regulations to ensure that compliance dates and requirements are met.
- Prepare compliance tools and conduct training as requested.
- Write and edit reports related to environmental programs.
- Carry out communication and coordination with regulatory agency representatives and represent Dominion Energy during regulatory inspections, and other regulatory meetings.
- Manage oversight, tracking, and assignment of compliance tasks for multiple facilities/projects
- Manage oversight and technical direction of contractors and consultants including preparation of scopes of work, purchase requisitions, and invoice approval.
- Represent company before industry groups and the public on environmental issues.
- Adhere to Dominion Energy environmental policy, guidance, and work practices.
- Adhere to Dominion Energy safety rules and safety performance expectations.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
Environmental Specialist I – 0-2+ directly related experience (Note: A Master's degree will count as one year of experience. A partial year of six months or more experience will be rounded up to one year)
Environmental Specialist II – 2-3+ yrs directly related experience (Note: A Master's degree will count as one year of experience. A partial year of six months or more experience will be rounded up to one year)
Environmental Specialist III – 5-7 yrs directly related experience (Note: A Master's degree will count as one year of experience. A partial year of six months or more experience will be rounded up to one year)
Specific knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience include:
- Understanding and application of hydrogeologic concepts and principles is required.
- Working knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations specific to groundwater as it relates to CCR, RCRA, CERCLA, NPDES, and petroleum programs.
- Regulatory agency experience or experience representing an organization with regulatory agencies is a plus.
- Experience overseeing consultants is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage details, multiple tasks, and hard deadlines and to work both independently and in a team setting is essential.
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and ability to effectively work in team environment are essential.
- Effective computer skills (MS office) and ability to work with electronic record management systems are essential.
- Strong logic, reasoning, and problem-solving skills to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternatives, conclusions, or approaches are essential.
- Driver’s license or ability to obtain a license to operate a motor vehicle is required.
- Ability to work in both office setting and at industrial sites is required.
- Ability to work outdoors in potential weather extremes (heat, cold) is required.
Education Requirements
Bachelor degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:
Preferred Discipline(s): Geology, Hydrogeology, Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemistry, or equivalent education and experience.
Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above.
Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description
Professional Geologist (PG) certification or Geologist-in-training equivalent with the intent to achieve a PG certification is preferred. Other licenses and certifications will be considered.
