Job Summary

Dominion Energy South Carolina has an opening for a Design Drafter or Senior Design Drafter in Cayce, SC. This position will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities.   

 

This role is responsible for the management of drawings for the Power Generation department. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

  • This includes preparing, maintaining and coordinating drawing revisions and field checking. 
  • Ensuring the accuracy of all disciplines of engineering prints, station and standard drawings, maps, charts and other drawings. 
  • Works with other department personnel to obtain and verify information needed to produce detailed drawings through the computer aided drafting system (MicroStation/DesCartes raster editing software). 
  • Helps maintain MicroStation/DesCartes drafting system in operational condition for mechanical, electrical, piping and civil projects. 
  • Imports vendor and contractor generated drawings into the Power Generation drawing management system. Manages the Power Generation drawing database using Synergis Adept software to ensure database entries for drawing revisions and new drawings are kept up to date and correct.
  • Orders drafting materials, plotter and copy machine supplies and maintains inventory.
  • Performs non-destructive inspections of power plant equipment using a borescope, material identification instrument, and ultrasonic tester during plant outages and when requested by plant or engineering staff.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Minimum Requirements (Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications):

 

Design Drafter:  Must have 2-3+ years of significant relevant experience in drafting and/or graphics.  Full knowledge of drafting principles.  Knowledge of MicroStation/DesCartes drafting software is preferred.  Basic knowledge of electrical, mechanical, piping or civil principles.  Must have reproduction equipment experience, mechanical drawing, computer graphics and verbal and written communication skills. Analytical and abstract thinking abilities, problem solving skills and able to process information quickly.

 

Senior Design Drafter:  Must have 5+ years of significant relevant experience in drafting and/or graphics.  Full knowledge of drafting principles.  Full knowledge of computer aided drafting and basic knowledge of electrical, mechanical or civil principles.  Must have reproduction equipment experience, mechanical drawing, computer graphics, verbal and written communication skills.  Analytical and abstract thinking abilities, problem solving skills and able to process information quickly.

Education Requirements

 

An equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred degree or certificate.

 

High school diploma or GED is required.

 

Preferred:

 

  • Associate’s degree in engineering technology or
  • Technical Education certificate in CAD/drafting

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

Must have a valid driver's license and must be willing to work inside Power Generation Plants and willing to work in confined spaces.
