We offer a hybrid work schedule (one week in the office, one week of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.

Job Summary

 

We are seeking a GIS Developer with 1–3+ years of professional .NET development experience to design, develop, and support applications that leverage geospatial data and GIS technologies. This role focuses on building GIS-enabled web applications, APIs, and integrations using C#, .NET, and modern web technologies.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with GIS platforms or spatial data, or a strong development background with a demonstrated interest and willingness to deepen GIS expertise. Responsibilities and technical leadership expectations will scale based on experience level (Junior, Mid, or Senior).

 

Key Responsibilities

GIS & Application Development

  • Design, develop, and maintain GIS-enabled applications using C# and .NET.
  • Build and support RESTful APIs that expose spatial and non-spatial data.
  • Develop interactive map-based user interfaces and location-based workflows.
  • Work with spatial data including geometry, projections, coordinate systems, and spatial queries.
  • Integrate applications with GIS platforms and services (e.g., ArcGIS, web mapping services).

Data & Systems

  • Design and optimize database solutions, including spatial data storage and querying.
  • Implement data access layers using SQL Server, PostgreSQL/PostGIS, Oracle, or similar platforms.
  • Support system integrations involving geocoding, routing, asset tracking, or location analytics.

Collaboration & Quality

  • Collaborate with business users, analysts, and other developers to translate GIS requirements into technical solutions.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and CI/CD processes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application and data issues, including production support as needed.
  • Follow best practices for performance, security, and maintainability.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Required Qualifications

  • 1–3+ years of professional experience developing applications using C# and .NET.
  • Experience building or supporting web applications or APIs.
  • Working knowledge of SQL and relational database concepts.
  • Familiarity with version control (Git).
  • Understanding of object-oriented programming and clean coding principles.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new technologies and domain concepts, particularly GIS and spatial data.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Qualifications

  • Experience with .NET Core / modern .NET (6/7/8).
  • Experience with Angular (or similar front-end frameworks such as React or Vue).
  • Hands-on experience with GIS technologies, such as:
    • ArcGIS (Enterprise, Online, Runtime, or APIs)
    • Open-source GIS tools (QGIS, GeoServer)
    • Web mapping libraries (Leaflet, Mapbox, OpenLayers)
  • Experience with spatial databases (PostGIS, SQL Server spatial types).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms, especially Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

Experience Level Expectations

Junior GIS Developer

  • 2–3 years of .NET experience
  • Some exposure to GIS concepts or strong interest in learning
  • Contributes to feature development with guidance

Mid-Level GIS Developer

  • 3–6 years of experience
  • Independently delivers GIS features and integrations
  • Comfortable working with spatial data and APIs

Senior GIS Developer

  • 6+ years of experience
  • Leads GIS architecture and technical decisions
  • Mentors team members and drives best practices

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:

Bachelor

Preferred Discipline(s): Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Business, Information Systems, Mathematics
