Job Summary

Dominion Energy South Carolina is hiring for an Air Emissions Monitoring Specialist I, II, III in Cayce, South Carolina. This role involves providing technical support for Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS), air emissions testing, and other monitoring, reporting, and recordkeeping necessary to ensure compliance with air quality regulations at Dominion Energy South Carolina Power Generation (PG) facilities. There is one position which will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Minimum Requirements (Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications):

 

Air Emissions Monitoring Specialist I - Entry-level role supporting CEMS installation, configuration, and maintenance. Key tasks: coordinating emission testing, drafting compliance reports, assisting with boiler tune-ups, supporting calibration audits, tracking equipment calibrations, reviewing permit conditions, conducting audits, drafting proposals and plans, performing QA reviews, and providing process support. Involves occasional high-altitude work and on-call support for spills and emergencies.

 

Air Emissions Monitoring Specialist II - Mid-level role with added emphasis on technical skills and regulatory knowledge. Responsibilities include those of Specialist I, plus: analyzing regulations, performing complex work with limited supervision, conducting technical calculations and research, evaluating systems and processes, drafting/reviewing proposals and plans, and performing technical evaluations. Requires experience in emissions monitoring and understanding of environmental laws.

 

Air Emissions Monitoring Specialist III - Top-level role handling complex tasks with significant expertise. Responsibilities include those of Specialist II, plus: preparing correspondence with regulatory agencies, analyzing CEMS/COMS performance, performing independent technical evaluations and calculations, and providing expert technical support. Involves preparing and reviewing reports for regulatory submission.

 

Preferred Experience for All Levels - Industry experience in power plant operations and associated emissions control and measuring technologies for fossil fuel-fired power generation facilities is desired. Experience with CEMTEK KVB-Enertec CEMS Data Acquisition and Handling Software (DAHS) is a plus.

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:

 

Air Emissions Monitoring Specialist I – Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field, or an associate degree and at least 2 years of relevant experience, or a High School diploma and at least 4 years of experience in a related field.

 

Air Emissions Monitoring Specialist II – Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field and at least 2 years of related experience, or an associate degree and at least 4 years of relevant experience, or a High School diploma and at least 6 years of experience in a related field.

 

Air Emissions Monitoring Specialist III – Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field and at least 5 years of related experience, or an associate degree and at least 7 years of relevant experience, or a High School diploma and at least 9 years of experience in a related field.
